So...things in France are shaping up nicely. England live in hope, Italy look mean, and the Germans are themselves. Meanwhile, Ronaldo opens his account, and Salas strides on.

  • World Cup 98 is out in Singapore. I have it, and despite exams, am playing it day and night. The World Cup Tactics Guide will be coming out soon!

INTRODUCTION TO THE TACTICS GUIDE

What I have here is essentially a repository of tips, tactics and strategies on FIFA98: RTWC, gleaned mostly from my many hours playing the game, but which also include viewers tips. Tactics will also cover World Cup 98, when it comes out later this year. You are more than welcome to contribute.

The page is designed to maximise accessibility, hence the sparseness of graphical and multimedia content.

BACKGROUND INFO ON THE FIFA SERIES

EA Sports remains one of the most successful of EA's 'divisions', and it's easy to see why. The games they've produced so far, and I must stress so far, have been high on presentation, but deliver often unsatisfactory gameplay. Taking the FIFA series into account for example. The first FIFA (94) was the tentative first step taken by EA Sports into the gaming world, but for it's time, it was pretty enjoyable. FIFA 96 marked the beginning of EAS' golden era, as successive games from then on all contained immaculate multimedia content. Game-wise, FIFA 96 was fun, though I got bored of winning after not too long. FIFA 97 was absymal, despite the new 3D engine. Controls were awkward, gameplay was slow (in my opinion) and it was as far from real soccer as possible.

f98zone.gif (3676 bytes)One of the best FIFA98 sites out there. There's a trivia quiz there which is very enjoyable (mainly because I set some of the questions)

online.gif (16396 bytes)The best FIFA98 site on the net. Full of stuff to download, brilliant replays, updated very frequently. Pity about the dearth of strategies though.

My little web-counter. Besides merely keeping track of the hits, Webtracker also allows me to analyse the nature of the hits.
