Basic Battle Commands
Main Base
The first thing you have to
do when you begin a new stage is to go into your Base. Here, you will see 4
options:
Player
Groups

deploy for this stage. This will be the first thing you do everytime you start a
new stage.
(Note that the limit on the
number of groups that you can deploy varies with each stage.)
Guest
Groups
Shows you the Guest (NPC) characters that you
can control for this stage.
Captured
Units
Shows the units which you have captured for
this stage.
Exit

Ship/Unit Commands
Selecting a WS (warship) or unit will
bring up a menu:
Move

area.
Attack

target.
Confirm

anything.
Collect
Capture enemy units that have surrendered (explained
below in the section on Capturing units). You can also use this to
retrieve your own units which have surrendered.
This command can
be used at an unlimited number of times per turn. Just make sure that you have
enough space on your ship to contain them.
(Can be done even after WS has finished
moving.)
Sortie

units.

To get on a SFS, simply deploy
the SFS from your ship first, then move your unit over it.

Multiple
Maps
Switching from one map to another
Simply use the top shift keys L1 and R1 to
switch between maps. L1 takes you to the map which is one level up, whereas
R1 takes you one level down.
Moving your units from one map to
another
When playing multi-layer stages with more than one map, several
new movement choices will appear at the bottom on your unit's command list.
Although these commands have different names, they all a basically do the
same thing; let you travel from one map to another.
Various units have different
ratings (measured in grades) for different terrain (Sky, Space, Ground,
Sea), and some may not be able to travel to certain
maps.
Ascend
/Descend

Used to travel between SKY and LAND
maps.
Applies
mainly to flying units.
Surface
/
Submerge
Used to travel between LAND and UNDERWATER
maps.
Move into Background
/ Move into
Foreground
Used to travel between multi-layered SPACE
maps.
(*Note: For this case only, you can attack an
enemy unit after shifting from one map to another! Keep this in mind and
surprise your enemies by shifting maps, then attacking them!)
Whether a map is behind or in front can be told by looking at the
mini-map icons at the top of the screen during gameplay.
The mini-maps are arranged from the Top-most map (on the left) to the
Bottom-most map (to the right).
(Or you can try pressing L1 or R1 to look
around and see which map is above/below which.)
Launch
/ Enter
Used to travel between LAND/MOON and SPACE
maps.
To
go from a SPACE map to EARTH or the MOON, simply move your WarShip or Unit to
the Earth/Moon on the map. Wait till the next turn then select Penetrate to
enter the Earth/Moon.
(Most MS may need special Optional Parts to
perform this, but some can do it by themselves.)
To go from the Earth/Moon to space, you first have to take over a
Launchpad. Move your W/Sunit over the Lauchpad and wait until the next turn.
Select the option Launch, and your unit will be launched to space.
Pause Menu
Pressing START any time
during the game will bring up the Pause Menu.
Here, you can choose to end your
turn, and adjust other settings.
