How to Attack

1) Select "Attack"
Select the unit which you want to use and choose "Attack".
(You may even move your unit first before you attack. However, War Ships cannot attack after they have moved.)

2) Choose your Weapon
Select the weapon you want to use from your Weapon List.
(Map Weapons cannot be used after you have moved your unit.)

*If your unit is a "Leader" unit, then a new option "Assist Attack" will be available at the bottom of the weapon list. It is always ON by default, and uses up 20 EN from your ship to perform.

3) Select your Target
Choose your target in the specified area. (varies with each weapon)

4) Counter Screen

Here, the attacker's Hit Rate % is displayed. (The minimum Hit Rate is 10%.)
*The Hit Rate for the ship's "Assist Attack" is also shown here if your unit is a "Leader" unit.

The defender can choose to counter in 3 ways:
Counterattack - counter with an attack of his own.
Guard - Block using a Shield; halves the damage received. (only applies to units which have shields)
Evade -Try to dodge the attack; lowers the attacker's Hit Rate by about 0.7 times.

*Note: The Hit Rate for Psychomu Weapons (PSYCOM and Q-PSY) weapons are determined by the pilot's MP. If the pilot's MP get too low, the Hit Rate will also be very low.

5) Confirmation Screen
After both players have determined their actions, the final information screen will come up, displaying the final Hit Rates.
Here, you can choose to whether or not to view the Battle Animation by selectiong ON or OFF.

6) The battle takes place.

Uses of War Ships

Replenishing HP, EN and MP for your units

Everytime your unit returns to its ship, a certain amount of HP and EN are replenished. This is vital when you are fighting a long battle and your units has taken a lot of damage and run out of EN.
You may also recharge your pilot's MP by returning to the War Ship, but your pilot's MP takes much longer to regenerate than the time taken to replenish your unit's HP and EN.

What is the "Active Area"?
Each War Ship has an Active Area, which is represented by a colored area around it. The size of the Active Area varies with each War Ship, and affects the units for that ship in several ways.

Make Good Use of the Active Area

When you send out your units from your ship, try to make them stay within the Active Area of your ship. This is because in doing so, your hit rate, evasion rate, and attack will be increased a little.
If you wonder out of your ship's Active Area, a Warning sign will be given, and in doing so, you will notice a significant drop in your unit's overall performance during battles!
*Note that if your Ship and units are on different map layers, the Active Area still applies, but it is weakened, and therefore smaller than it is when both units and ships are on the same map.

Capturing Units

In this game, each Group consist of one War Ship and a number of Units. However if the War Ship for a group gets destroyed, then all the surviving Units for that Group will "surrender".
This is shown by a White Flag icon on each surrendered unit. These units will remain on the Map, but they can't move or perform any actions at all.
Eventually, they will either get killed by other units or end up being captured.

In order to capture a unit, you will have to move your War Ship such that the Surrendered Unit is within the Active Area of your ship. Now, choose the command "Collect", and select all the Surrendered Units that you want to capture.
(*Note: You must have vacancies on your War Ship to be able to capture a Unit!)
Besides capturing your enemy's Surrendered Units, you can also use this command to save your own units whose War Ship has been destroyed.
Captured Units will come in handy, (especially later when you enter the Meeting Room later to develope new MS/MA) so try to capture any new MS/MA that you come across on any stage!

(*Note: Not all MS/MA can be captured! Some Bosses do not have War Ships and they travel on their own. The special thing about them is that they can't use up all their EN and MP. However, don't worry; since they do not have a War Ship to go back to, there is no way they can replenish their HPs! ^_^ )

When the battle is over, it is time to go to the Results screen.
