Battle Plans:
American Plan: The plan of attack is to hammer away at positions in building F5. From the postion of teh M12 on board 1 I should have LOS to most, if not all locations along the southern face of the building. The troops in building J4 will provide a fire base along the northern face of building F5 and a jumpoff point to swing north around building E3. The firegroup in K7 will first attempt to pin units in the upper levels of F5 and then rush the building to hopefully cap off a victory.
German Plan: The primary building (F5) will be defended to the last man. The unit in building E3 will try to preventan end run around E3 or a rush down the street beterrn E3 and F5.
Action Report:
Turn 1:
Fire from the M12 is singularly ineffective with the +3DRM. By the end of the German player turn, however, the M12 has gained a -2 acquisition and tracks the German troops as they move through the building. More effective has been the fire from K7 which breaks the HMG toting 447 on level 2, forcing it and the 10-2 leader to head downstairs. In the center, fire from J4 and J5 is also ineffective. The 666 with the Bazooka tries to dash to J2 and begin an push around E3, but is broken in the street. The 666 with the MMG is also broken and forced back to K4.
Turn 2:
The M12 scores a hit on building F6.2 breaking the 10-2 and the broken 447. Subsequent fire later in the turn nails another 447 disrupting the unit. The broken MMG toting 666 is brought back and the 8-0 successfully dashes to the aid of the Baz team in J2.The Germans reinforce G6.0 with a HMG, and 447 while the 6+1 rushes upstairs to the aid of the disrupted squad. A. 666 Assault Moves from building J5 and enters H5 in the advance pahse. A toehold is established. Another 666 does the same towards H4.
Turn 3: Amerian
The M12 once again putts out on fire, but does keep the broken units with the 10-2 under DM markers. The 6+1 wounds becoming effectively a 5+2 leader. The Americans decide now is a time to rush building F5. The 8-0 and Baz,666 rush around teh north of building E3 and advance into E3.0 drawing ineffective fire. The squad in H3, and one in H4 are pinned. The 666 with the MMG pushes into H5.0. The squads to the south try swarming F5, but are beaten back. All three squads are broken with the 9-1 dying on a roll of snake eyes. Things are looking a bit brighter for the Germans who still have 2.5 good order squads and the 10-2 leader around. At least until CCPh when 2 American 666 squads advance on the 447 with the HMG in G6.0. The resulting close combat nails the 447 and in the next RPh, the Americans become the proud owners of a German heavy.
Turn 3: German
This r=proves a most interesting turn with the 10-2 going berserk on a +2MC from a 26 FP attack! He carries with him a half squad. They are forced to hold in position since the berserk happens during DFPh. The 447 in F5.0 beraks and tries to surrender. The surrender is refused to preserve the 23 FP group in G6.
Turn 4: American
It's all over but the shouting. The M12 hits but the 2 berserk units survive the 30 FP IFE attack. They are not so luck with the 36+FP attack. Since the 10-2 leader is berserk his DRM is unavailable. The berserk half squad dies on a +2MC failure and the buildign's last MMC defender is eliminated.
Dave played a good game and proved to be a gentleman as well.
