This is a poem I wrote after having had about 1 hour of sleep in three days.
I also had a very small selection of words to work with.
I wrote it on 8/20/1996 and kept it on a little piece of paper in my pocket until today,
11/11/1997. That's a record for me. I'm surprised I kept this thing that long...
Definitions (written in first grade, 1979 or 80.)
Elbows are for holding your arms together.
Wishing is for putting into dreams.
Cheeks are for ice and snow to stick on.
I am for being me.
Butterflies(1986)
Butterflies winging
scattering their bright colors
across the wide sky.
Storm (1990)
I feel raindrops fall from high.
I see lightning flash
and hear thunder loudly crash
as the wind makes a mournful cry.
The leaves begin to fly
quick as a lash,
loud as a crash.
Then, the wind does die.
But when the sky clouds over,
have patience, let it rain.
For rain produces clover
and flowers in the lane.
And through these joy flows all over
and drowns all thought of pain.
Darkness (1990)
Darkness falls upon me,
as night upon the bare tree.
My outward appearance is
flashes of light in the dark.
As headlights streak through the
dead branches.
This tree encompasses
the shades of my soul.
Dawn comes and we assume
a false sense of brightness.
But inside, all is still dark.
Then the truth of night
comes once again.
Desires(1992)
Your luscious body,
striving for my touch.
Your lips firmly against mine.
Your hair and mine,
entangling as we tumble.
Your eyes, the window to the soul.
Your smile, beauty incarnate.
Your gentle touch,
driving me to the limit.
Desires as yet untasted.
One Kiss(1996)
For a moment our eyes locked:
We two, alone in this place.
Our lips touch, and all is a blur.
My spirit soars like a bird,
then settles lightly to my body again.
One kiss, one moment:
A memory to treasure.
My Fantasy(1994)
Your warm body next to mine,
pressing close to me,
Flesh on flesh,
warming me, exciting me.
Our souls in harmony,
our bodies entwined.
The fit, perfect.
Moving together,
with fervent passion,
towards that final moment,
and its ensuing explosion.
Leaving me breathless.
Your arms around me,
holding me close,
soul to soul,
comforting me,soothing flesh.
Unending Kiss(1994)
A finite moment in an infinite passion
We met years ago,
with sweet and gentle smiles.
It was magic at first, but then denied.
Years on, when we were lonely,
Our eyes, hearts, cleared,
Just for a moment-
To preserve within our hearts
our first but last unending kiss.
Eternity(1998)
Upon a stone,
above my grave,
carve but one word,
"eternity."
Should I have no grave,
spread my ash far and wide,
with but one word,
"eternity."
Should I have no ash, stone, or grave,
please, no monument to me,
save,
speak one word for my memory,
"eternity."
Unititled(1997)
Where joy once thrived, I see only anger and fear.
A passion burns there, though not like before.
Shards of ice rend heart and soul,
Melting slowly away into puddles of
fear and confusion.
Mud puddles for the soul.
The soil is provided by the Giant of Chaos,
Grinding the beautiful landscape of life
Into a fine powder beneath his heel.
I fear my puddles, but to wash them away
Takes a million tears. Have I that many?
No, not for me. I shall live with my puddles,
Seeking only to cleanse yours.
How many tears will it take? Three million, four?
They are all for you, and they shall flow through
my soul until joy's light shines evermore,
Behind your beautiful, brown eyes.
Hug(1998)(for Tigger)
Warm and wild, your energies,
flow around me, embrace me.
The warmth of a hug,
does it come from the body
or the soul?
Wondrous how a simple touch
can amaze the senses.
Stoic Musings(1998)(for Tigger)
I can't believe it, I got ripped apart again
I swore I would not let it be
I loved again, felt joy again,
all from the heart, for the wonderous, he.
I live, I love, I fall, I die
I can no longer see my way.
My heart sent spinning,
reeling like a drugged-up dancer
on the dimly lit floor of the Cont.
My beautiful, powerful, sensuous Tiger,
You brought out so much in me,
taught me patience, and peace,
brought me joy, and comfort,
awakened my senses,
and touched my soul.
To My Friend(1998)
colors swirl around me,
falling into ecstasy,
all my nerves screaming,
maybe my voice too.
moments later, peaceful bliss,
then confusion, hope, joy, sorrow,
so much, too much,
more than a dream,
no, a pleasant dream,
but still you are here beside me,
I must be dreaming still.
These are a group of poems I call the Vampire Verses. Each person whose name is mentioned twice, if you were not shown the poem and I know more than one person with your first name, then please ask me before you assume it is about you or not....
The Vampire Verses:
It is often said that your name reflects a part of your soul. Strangely enough, character and persona names do this as well. These studies of souls are a journey of self discovery, of discovery of feelings, of true interaction, and of love. They are Vampire Verses because they began with names of Vampire: the Masquerade characters. They continued to be Vampire Verses long after real names were used, as a sort of soul kiss, a flow of life onto paper, for eternity. Souls to live forever, like the Vampire.
Appolyon
Approaching a fervor
passionate,
possessive,
only wanting one thing,
lifelong love.
yet also you want help, strength,
only found through devotion
not through love.
Aurelious
A young rose blooms
under harsh, unnatural circumstances,
reaching out for open air, true light.
ever delicate,
losing not its beauty
in the struggle to be free
of its carefully built glass cage.
unless it grows free, it may wither.
so grow, young rose, let your beauty last.
Brad
Beginning to trust
reaching out to a friend,
all my actions were in vain,
deceit lies at your very core.
Brian
Before I can trust again
reality must be defined
ignorance and deceit
are all around
never follow blindly.
Brian
Beautiful, bright eyes,
remote to me now,
i remember their gaze,
as our lips met, that dream-filled
night to remember.
Cole
Caring for all,

Judas' betrayal was not as great
all he did mirrored his one purpose
so much I have given you, wished for you,
only now, that I have no more uses,
now I am discarded.
Jason
January has already brought
all the problems we need.
still, my brother,
our friendship endures.
now my recent anger seems garish.
Jim
Join me, my friend,
in a heartfelt love,
more enduring than life itself.

Join me for a moment of peace, as
our journey together draws to a close, my friend.

nearer now than ever to our goals.
Josh
Jovial you are, always it seems,
observant too, and much more.
so many facets
held in one man.
Justin
Journey deep into your soul,
under a rainy yet moonlit
sky, a beautiful night.

Kings and princes bow to you,

lovely beyond any expression
in any language now known
your beauty is eternal.
Madeline
Miss Madeline,
assassin.
deceptive in her appearance,
everyone sees a child. To
live forever,
is it worthwhile?
no one knows her now,
even herself.
Miller
Men do not accept you
in your disguise
lovely girl
longing to hide from
everybody, this image is not
real, within him you cannot hide.
Othelia
On a dark path, a little girl
travels, searching, running,
her calls unheard by

Steady yourself,
calm down
o, young, old one,

So soon, so soon,
can I not see my folly?

to soon to love one as fair as thee.

Turbulent soul,
reaching, striving for security
easily frightened, but
very strong as well
of all souls, yours is beautiful
ride the wind, be secure, and so be free.
These next few are poems that I have had for some time, though they are not my work. I just love them and so decided to share them with you. Where I know who they are by, I have so noted.
I'm an amiable dragon,
And I have no wish to scare.
Do not tremble at my presence,
Do ignore my lethal stare.
Do not fret about the fire
I unleash into the air.
You are free to pass unchallenged,
but only if you dare.
