Banshee Boardwalk is a very demanding track, and success will only come when you have formed an accurate mental map of the course. Anticipating the turns is key, as some of them come up on you very fast.
Be cautious when taking the turns on which there are no fences to stop your fall into the water. If the inside fence is missing, then take the turn a little wide, and vice versa (unless of course you are taking a short cut and are jumping over an intersection of two pieces of track.)
The s-curve is one of the nastiest areas of track found in the game, especially if you are playing on a 13 inch Candle TV which saw its best days a few decades ago. To get through unharmed, start the left turn a little earlier then you start most turns. Doing this allows you to straighten out your kart in time for the right turn which comes quickly after.
Save any mushrooms or stars for the straightaways. The s-curve is even more unmanageable with a star activated.
Save any bananas or fake item boxes either for the turn before the ghost house entrance, or for the s-curve. Placing items in these two spots ensures that the item will be used to its maximum effectiveness.
Confirmed Tricks: How to Jump, Slide, and Skid Your Way to Victory
There are two ways to jump over the pool of water in the ghost house:
Turn right when entering the ghost house, then turn left so that you are facing the large, wooden pole. Then simply jump over the water to the left of the pole, and you will have saved a small amount of time.

Turn left when entering the ghost house, and powerslide left once around the wall. There is a small ledge to the left of the lake, and if you are going fast enough, you can skid over the lake and land on this ledge, saving considerably more time.
