Of all the methods of making money in UO, I have discovered only one that is
sure fire. I have found that making potions can yeild profits of nealy 100%.
For everyone who wishes to be a mage this can be a good way to make profit. There are many advantages to this method of getting profit. One advantage is that you need practically zero (that's right zero) skill to make a black potion. Secondly, it quickly raises both dexterity and intelligence. Next, you can buy garlic for 2 gold pieces and a bottle for 3 gold pieces, then you can sell the black potion for 9 gold pieces. This is 4 gold pieces of profit. Finally, not many people know about this method of making money, so (unlike tailoring) you can actually sell the potions. |

There are a few disadvantages to this method. Number one is time, it takes about 5
seconds to make one potion. Also, with all the mages around it can be hard to find
the bottles or reagents. However, in Britain there are three magic shops so you almost
never have to worry about it. Other than that I haven't run into any problems with alchemy. If you are looking for money thats easy, look no further than alchemy. It is easy to do and yeilds lots of profit. It may not be the right thing for some people, but I always thinbk being able to make a heal potion when you are stuck is a good skill. In Ultima using the skills that aren't constantly being used to make money is the best thing to do. The engine won't have to correct for the influx of new goods like it does with tailoring. --Krosis |
