BACKGROUND:
There is uncertainty over whether Bowyer is mechanical or a monster.
Some believe that he was built by Smithy, but he is not very mechanical,
which leads others to argue that Bowyer is a monster working for Smithy.
He may even be one part monster and one part machine.
Physically, Bowyer is a large, bow-shaped creature, and he can actually
fire Flunkies (arrow-shaped monsters) as if they were arrows, using his
body. He has bright orange-red hair, and yellow and orange stripes
along the length of his body.
Mario defeated Bowyer during the battle for the Star Road, and at the
same time most of his Flunkies were destroyed. Apparently they have a
close relationship, which caused them to self-destruct when Bowyer was
beaten. However, a few survived.

OTHER BACKGROUND INFO:
"Bowyer certainly is bent out of shape about something. His arrows
switch off whichever Controller Button they hit, so be prepared to fight
with Special Attacks. Since he uses Sleep, protect yourself with
Wake Up Pins." - SMRPG Player's Guide

BATTLE PLAN:
Attack Pattern: Bowyer will fire arrows at
three square buttons. Whichever one is hit will be "locked"...you
can't use that button on the controller.
He also has four spells: Bolt hits one person and causes quite a bit
of damage. Lightning Orb does the same thing, but doesn't seem
quite as powerful. Static E his everyone, and causes even more damage
than bolt, although sometimes a character can escape this attack.
G'night will put one person to sleep. With all of these options,
it's no surprise that Bowyer doesn't waste much time on regular
attacks.
Battle Plan: Stick to regular attacks whenever
possible, most of your special attacks are not that powerful
against Bowyer, and you'll want to save your FP for when your
regular attacks are blocked. As the folks at Nintendo Power
suggest, equipping your characters with Wake-Up pins is a good
idea. I don't think it's necessary to equip all three characters,
but one or two would be wise. Also, make sure your party has
more or less full FP before going into battle, since you will
be forced to use spells.
Advanced Strategies: Having plenty of mushrooms
in your inventory before going into battle is also a good idea,
since you may not be able to use spells at some points. If you
are forced to use Special Attacks, don't use Fire or Thunder.
Mario's Jump attacks work very well, and the Geno Beam is decent.
Mallow should spend most of his time backing up the others with
HP Rain and Items, but he can definitely join in if Regular Attacks
are not locked out.
Blocking Bowyer's regular attack is difficult. He fires a Flunky at you,
and you basically have to try to press A just before it hits you.
This is easier said than done, the arrows move quickly, and they
fly right of the top of the screen before coming down to hit you.
Depending on how good your reflexes are, you may want to try
pressing A as soon as you see the Flunky re-enter the screen.
Keep in mind that he doesn't use his regular attack that often,
so it isn't crucial to block it.
