Strider (Sega Master System, 1991)
Admittedly, this is an EXTREMELY poor translation of the masterful arcade version. The graphics are ugly, the gravity in the game seems to be non-existant at times, and there's a huge delay from when you press the attack button and when Hiryu actually swings the cipher..

Games like this killed the Master System...
