Royal Assassins

No matter how loved or worshiped they are, every great leader faces a day at some point during his reign when negotiations and diplomacy fail him. It is these days, that these leaders must turn to their problem-solvers. Not their advisors or counselors. They turn to the most efficient and supreme problem solvers of all--their assassins.

The Council of the Southern Cross is no different in that they too employ such warriors. Headed and trained by the infamous Fredrick the Grim, of the Baalgor Wastelands, this is the forgotten branch of the council. Detested by the other branches of the council, it is the Royal Assassins who they turn to when they get in over their heads. Fredrick deploys his elite warriors--men and women who are the best of the best in their profession--to correct the mistakes of the council, and rarely receive so much as a "good job" from the other council members, who are ashamed of these men, their own countrymen.

Fredrick watches as the out council members pat themselves on the back for not being so heartless as those "cold and unemotional Royal Assassins", but he and his men know that the job of the Royal Assassin is not the job of a hero; it is the job of a man who loves his country so much that he will not even ask for his country to share the light when the sun has raised, no matter how much he has helped the sun to rise. It is enough to know in his heart that he contributed to the well-being of his fellow countrymen. The Royal Assassins of the Southern Cross will always hold their kingdom in their hearts, even though she will never hold them in hers.
