Tristan was born on a small isle in the Floenry Isle chain, he grew up as a fairly typical child, but instead of being a farmer, or a sailor, his ever present quest for knowledge led him into being a Monk Scholar, since, next to being a sage (a nearly impossible goal) these Monks possesed the most knowledge of the history and present of the Palladium world. Despite his temperment, he was not much of a fighter, which is good, since it is against the Monk Scholar's training and morals to engage himself in fighting. However they do teach him to get out of harms way, since sometimes the persuit of knowledge is dangerous. Upon meeting a curious elf named Lancelot, who invited him to join a new kingdom named the Isle of the Southern Cross, he decided that this might be his destiny to lead him to greater knowledge, since Lancelot had obviously been to many different places and could very well have a great deal of knowledge to share.
