The making of a Sim...
The Internet was
young. The tyrant of the "Online Service" still reigned
supreme. OPI was not even a notion back then. The sim was an
immediate derivative of the popular Fox show, The X-Files.
On Wednesday and Friday nights (that's right there were two) the
original Simsters met in an AOL chat room, with quickened pulses,
and notebooks in hand.
Technology took a turn when the Public caught the Internet craze.
To facilitate this hunger, and the sudden vacuum of AOL, the sim
was moved to IRC, on the Undernet circuit. Due to copyright
issues, the Sim was forced to change its name. The sim remained
on Undernet until the evil Punty and Lag took over, as masses of
people flocked to the Undernet channels - it was time to move
again.
DALnet has been our home since then. But as time changes, so do
people, and many of our original Agents are gone. Though they
will be missed, a new breed of fresh agents has continued the
vibrant spirit of XFSIM, into the OPI age. Good job, guys.
