Sorry if this offends anyone's delicate web-page sensibilities, but I always thought a history began at the start and ended at the present day.

UKNCC match vs. RAQ on 22/11/97

RAQ 84-43 SFA

An inauspicious start for SFA but one which was really to be expected due to the lack of teamwork practice on our part. RAQ really had their tactics sorted out on this mapand it showed, with them holding the rocket room for the vast majority of the game.

Of course the rather dismal performance of the clan leader (ahem) didn't help either, and I can usually expect more from Hate. Hopefully we can learn from this experience for our next match against TKT on the same map.

The meeting wasn't all bad news for our clan, as we won a subsequent friendly by a reasonable margin on DM6, a map which both myself and Gouki are more comfortable on. We look forward to the rematch.

UKNCC match vs. TKT on 23/11/97

SFA 107-84 TKT

We won! We won! WE WON!!!!

Ahem

Yes, SFA gained it's first victory against TKT on the 23rd. This time, despite the lack of any practice still, my last minute briefing on tactics - "For christ's sake hold the rocket room" - seemed to do the trick. We held the RL room for the majority of the match, and whenever we did get the message 'RL secure' from a helpful TKT member ;-) , we were able to take it back by brute force again pretty sharpish, with Hate performing some great grenade raids on it from the water.

Hate was our best player overall, notching up 55 frags, with Gouki adding a useful 30, with even me managing to contribute a healthy 22.

It has to be said though, that we were playing against some people with pings an awful lot higher than ours, and the match was in fact even closer than the scoreline suggests. Thanks very much to TKT for a great match and all the best in the future.

UKNCC match vs. TC on 4/12/97

This was a rather bad loss I'm afraid. It merely served to illustrate that there's no substitute for experience though. To this end practice sessions are being organised, alongside  the matches against our soon-to-be allies - TKT.

Anyway, as far as the actual match was concerned, I didn't see very much of it as I wasn't playing and I couldn't get the damn spectator mode to work on this server, so all I saw was about the last 5 minutes of it, looking over Hate's shoulder. From second-hand accounts though, it seems that we started off badly, but started to hold our own nearer the end.

TC managed to hold the rocket room for most of the match, which didn't seem to help our cause at all. In the end, only Hate and Gouki managed to get into double figures, with Jimbob (albeit with a very high ping) only scoring a solitary frag. Personally I think we lost because I wasn't playing, but that's only my opinion. Oh well, things can only get better.....

UKNCC match vs. 00 Agents on 4/12/97

SFA 125-85 00A

Hurrah! Another victory for the cute, small and furry ones. Well this really was a good game, the fact is that the scoreline shows a much better victory - in fact our best yet - than in fact it was. For the first half of the match 00A really dominated, their superiority in numbers really showing. My usual star player (Hate) was playing badly and I thought we would slip to another defeat.

I was reckoning without our new recruit Bloated though, who played a stunning game throughout. He kept us in touch through the shaky early stages and kept it up through the match. We were about 20 frags down at about 40-20 when Hate suddenly found the form that had been annoying all of us through the past year, and went on a killing rampage with numerous profitable Quad runs. I picked up my game too, and after drawing level at about 65-65, we led by a small margin until the last 10 mins of this 40 minute marathon when we started to pull away, giving us a very flattering final score of 125-85.

To be fair, we did have the three lowest pings in the match, with both myself and Hate being LPB's, and Bloated having a very good modem connection, but on the other hand we were outnumbered and overall it was probably a fair match. I had hoped to have more players turning up by having LPBs turn themselves into HPBs using a proxy to increase their actual ping, but the server wouldn't accept them - probably due to the cheating which goes on with proxy programs. A shame. We shall have to sort this out in advance in the future. A great match all the same though, keep it up folks!
