PAX IMPERIA EMINENT DOMAIN COMBAT

COMBAT

"Manipulation: You will have direct control over each of your ships involved in the combat. You can group and single select and assign them to combat groups. Orders: With your ships, you can select a target to attack, adjust their formation, select an object that they should attack if given the chance(target - see below), face a particular direction, move to a point with or without a specific formation. Movement: Ships have varying speeds and turn speeds, depending on the hull type and your engines. Weapons: Weapons on ships have a facing. It can be primary (front), port, starboard and point defense. Point defense weapons only work at short range, but can fire in any direction. When in combat, your weapons fire at any targets in range, and the engine works religiously to make sure that this happens. Setting a target to attack, or targeting a ship, gives that particular object priority such that if it ever happens to wander into your range, you will shoot at it. Weapons have an accuracy which affect how close to your ideal target point the weapon actually fires. Missiles can track and can be shot down. Weapons have various speeds and effectiveness at various ranges. Point defense weapons automatically fire at fighters and missiles, and if those aren't present, any ship that happens to be hanging around. Targeting: Your targeting computer tracks targets for you. Any targets you select will be put in the targeting list. The better your computer, the more objects you can track at further distances. Tracking objects allow you to hit things better, with your bonus to hit improving with the length of time with which you are targeting that object. ECM: ECM conteracts your opponents targetting bonus. Damage: Although there is a damage bar, damage is not doled out in such a simplistic manner. Any damaging shots will either damage the structural integrity of the ship or one of the various systems. Ship systems have operating levels that degrade when they take damage. Any systems that are destroyed cannot be used and may blow up, causing even more damage. When the structural integrity of the ship has been compromised, it dies in a glorious explosion. Shields/Armor/Specials: Sorry, but this area is still under construction."
