Die Hard Arcade

Die Hard Arcade (Dynamite Deka JPN)

Publisher: Sega
Developer:Sega
Genre:Arcade Fighting
Release Date:March 1997

Die Hard Arcade is near final compleation, and on schedule for a March release. All the screenshots are from the Saturn version, and so far, nearly identical to the arcade version minus "a polygon here and there."

Resolution is perfect. Everything is arcade perfect. A bonus game, Sega's classic Deep Scan, is included. The more points you get in Deep Scan, the more continues you get in DHA.

Die Hard Arcade, Sega's 3-D Final Fight type game, is probably the only successful Titan game to date. Since the creation of the Saturn's arcade counterpart, Titan games like Funky Head Boxers have suffered mixed reviews.

However, Die Hard Arcade is an award-winning success, a hit with both players and arcade operators. You play a cop who has to rescue the President's daughter, holed up in a big 'ol skyscraper, surrounded by nefarious enemies and one evil-looking archvillain.

The premise veers away slightly from the Die Hard movie. This time John McClane and his new sidekick Kris Thompson are thrown back into the Nakatomi Plaza to fight terrorists - again. Adding to the suspense is the location of a small girl, trapped somewhere in the peril-filled skyscraper.

Gameplay is mostly 2-D, but environments and characters are fully 3D, with great looking results. One of the big hits of Die Hard Arcade is the huge number of moves and combos.

Like Funky Head Boxers, expect a fast and seamless transition to the Saturn. Seems like the Titan board's finally paying off.

The Japanese version is slated to appear on schedule, and the American version is in conversion as we speak, so expect close release times. Check out the pictures on my mirror site.
