Role Playing Games have always been a favorate for a lot of gamers. Now with the Next Gen systems there is a lot that can go into an RPG. More story, graphics, and a whole lot more. I have compiled a short RPG list for all systems and included pictures where I could.
Breath of Fire 3
Capcom is working on it....thats all i know for now...
Samurai Shodown RPG has been in the works for a while. Now its about ready for Japan. Take the special moves from any Samurai Shodown title and incorporate them into turn-based combat. If you miss a combo attack, you either miss or take very little damage from the opponent, but if you land one, you could be greeted with the greatest graphic assault ever seen in a console title. Plus, you'll notice that the graphics on the town and map screens are very impressive. This SNK title will surely be released in the US sometime this year! Remember, Sony published both Samurai Shodown III and King of Fighter's '95 for the Sony PlayStation. Let's hope that they pick it up! Samurai Shodown RPG should be released in Japan around April.
Working Designs has picked up this game, originally developed in Japan
by Sunsoft. This is a more "traditional" RPG in game-play style
compared to its SNES counterpart, with less of the strategic planning
and more back-to-basics gameplay.
Grandia is hopefully commming to Saturn soon. Its a great and needed RPG. Here's a screen shot just to make you want it more. If you would like to e-mail Sega and let them Know you want it bad Here mailto:webmaster@sega.com
RayEarth For Saturn (Avail. June/July 97)
Working Designs is also working on this game. So far it will be intact with the original names.
Magical Knight RayEarth is a more traditional, top-down roleplaying game, along the lines of Zelda - but it offers much, much more.
Features beautiful, hand-drawn art throughout the game, multiple characters and a lengthly quest. (Developed originally by Sega of Japan).
Working Designs is working hard and their work will show once these games come out.
Everything has been enhanced over the original. This was obviously to be expected, but the results are stunning nonetheless! The battle scenes have a more obvious 3-D look to them, magic spells are improved, and the towns and other areas have a much more "rich" look to them. All-new animations have been added to enhance the world of Lunar.
Over 40 minutes of animation - not just the original animation retouched, but completely redone. The music and sound effects are also being redone. (although some musical scores from the original are being kept).
Working Designs will be using a better form of MPEG compression than was used in the Japanese version for the animations and making new footage just for America. As a result, the animations will be full-screen rather than just 1/3 of the screen. All the original voice actors, with the exception of Alex, will be used (plus new ones).
Temco's Deception For Playstation
This is an interesting game for the PSX. Another RPG simmilar to Atlus' Persona. It is about Vampires and other spookie characters.
One not to be missed and another mark for PSX over Saturn in the realm of RPG's
