The Calians

The Calians are the most ironic of guilds in Genesis. They are the most cowardly of all of the Army's opponents, yet they are numbered amongst the most dangerous. They fancy themselves heroes, yet roam the lands like a pack of mangy dogs, attacking from the rear and running when cornered...

Calians are easy to identify, as they are the people who are quick with their insults when in numbers, but are pleasantly quiet when alone. Their special abilities reflect this pack mentality. They have the ability to swarm in combat, using numbers to bring their opponent down. Those calians who you are not directly fighting use long weapons such as spears or halberds to sneak through your defences, causing extensive damage.

Any calian brave enough to take hits (a rare sight indeed, and normally born of desperation) can attempt to maul you in combat, although usually less successfully than when employing their swarming attack. Once injured, the calian taking hits will attempt to move behind one of their team-mates, allowing them time to heal.

When fighting calians, if you can break through the forces protecting them, they are usually relatively weak and harmless when attacked, although there are a few calians who specialise in mauling and who are more hardy in single combat. Be wary of calians in groups, for a large enough group of even small calians can take down almost any soldier. Calians also have long memories, and if you kill enough of them, they are likely to declare you an Enemy of Calia, which prevents you from entering their palace.
