The Recruitment Policy of the Army of Angmar.

In recent times, the Army of Angmar has implemented a recruitment policy to help keep undesirables out of the guild. In its past the Army has been infiltrated by spies who passed on confidential information as well as looting the Army's armoury of weapons and equipment. With the implementation of a recruitment policy it is hoped that potential traitors will be kept out of the Army.

Any potential soldier who wishes to join the Army must satisfy certain requirements.

The first requirement is that the applicant must have obtained the rank of at least wanderer. This requirement is in place to ensure that applicants are sufficiently experienced in the ways of the world so that they are in a position to know what they want to get out of joining the Army and what they think that they can contribute to the Army.

The second requirement is a racial requirement. The Army accepts applicants from most races, with the exception of the strange gnomes, the foul elves, and the weak hobbits. Gnomes are not native to the lands of Middle Earth, and are of little use in a battle. They spend too much time thinking and inventing to be of use in the Army, although the Morgul Mages accept gnomes within their ranks. Elves are renowned for their treacherous behaviour, and while a few dark elves have aligned themselves with the forces of the East, the Dark Lord will not accept any elf into the Army. Likewise, hobbits are a weak and pitiful race who exist merely to provide soldiers with entertainment. They make good slaves, and their boiled carcasses have plenty of flavour, but they have no place within the ranks of the Army.

Potential applicants of an appropriate level and race must be completely loyal to the Dark Lord, and must be willing to serve Him at all times and in any way which He or one of His officers sees fit to order. They must also be willing to contribute to the general welfare of the Army in order to maintain the Army's unity.

The Army is willing, in exceptional circumstances, to accept those who have formerly been opposed to the ways of the Dark Lord. It is recognised that people grow wise with time, and occasionally recognise the errors of their ways. Those former enemies who wish to join the Army must display their complete devotion to the cause of the Army, and will find that their applications are scrutinised even more carefully than those of other potential applicants.

Potential applicants are advised to study the information contained within this guildhall. When they believe they are ready to apply to join the Army, they should mail one of the Recruitment Officers, stating their intentions to join. The Recruitment Officer will then ask the potential applicant a number of questions which are designed to enable the applicant's reasons for wishing to join the Army to be evaluated. If the applicant is accepted, he or she will then be invited to join the Army.

Potential applicants are expected to be able to answer the following questions (amongst others):

  • Why do you wish to join the Army of Angmar?

  • What do you think about the cause of the Army?

  • What do you believe to be your most important duty, as a soldier in the Army?

  • How do you think you will be able to contribute to the Army?

Potential applicants may also be asked other questions, to evaluate their knowledge of the Army.

Former soldiers who have left the Army and wish to re-enlist follow a different procedure. They must be able to supply reasons why they should be allowed to re-enlist in the Army, and their case will be posted on the Army's common board, where soldiers may make comments. Former soldiers will also be required to submit recommendations from two current soldiers who can support their case.

Current Recruitment Officers

The following soldiers are the official Recruitment Officers for the Army of Angmar:

  • Gector
  • Ra
  • Vygiz
Potential applicants can contact one of these Recruitment Officers to express their interest in joining the Army.
The Army offers its thanks to former Recruitment Officer Frajola, who was primarily responsible for formalising the Army's recruitment policy.
