- If
you like trading, Try the route from Bex to hephestus with all
the beer and grain you can carry Going back use a small ship
and take brickcrete.
- Don't
buy a new ship untill you have most of it's purchase price in
cash.
- If
you don't have any afterburner fuel left: While trying to get
past fighters to get behind them fly your ship in a tight corkscrew
DO NOT use ship roll. Go up right down and left. It may take
some time to get the period right, but it works very well.
- When
you do have afterburners: as you are approaching the enemy that
is firing at you make your flight pattern curve up or down a
little. This way you won't get hit by ANY of his lazers.

I've
found that the most important key on the keyboard is W (Target
nearest hostile). Lets you zero in on the ships that are the quickest
to kill and the ones you're most in danger of being fired on by.
The only downside to this tactic is that if a missile is chasing
you, the W key will only display that missile or missiles until
they detonate.
Other
than that, corkscrewing counterclockwise when closing with an
enemy ship head-on will oftentimes get you right in its face without
taking any damage at all, and I've destroyed most of my ships
this way without firing a single missile. You just have to pace
it so that you're slightly ahead of the enemy ship's firing line.

Corkscrewing:
The best way to corkscrew is while out of range, move your ship's
direction slightly to the left of the enemy (put your finger on
the screen if you need to). Then if you dont have a joystick with
the roll function: hold the "<" or "," key
and hold your joystick slightly to the right. If you do have the
roll function set on your joystick: hold it tightly and move your
joystick slightly to the right. Remember: you can't use any other
function on your joystick while using roll.
This can come to your advantage if your enemy ceases fire to break
away. Then you press and hold the trigger and the let go of roll.
That way you will pull of of your roll abruptly and begin firing.
If your enemy doesn't break away, you can fly right by them. As
soon as they are next to you, end your roll and stop immediately.
Then you turn about 60 degrees toward your enemy and then turn back
of your engines. This will avoid collision and allow you to turn
tighter. You have done a Helix Fly-by. |

I
recently found a bug that can be easily taken advantage of:
Using a joystick w/ throttle, I went to calibrate my throttle. Instead
I canceled out w/out actual calibration.
From then on, my ship continued to gain spee; & when I was done,
actually calibrating the throttle reset it to correct functionality.
I have only taken the speed up to 6000 though it could probably
go higher. This doesn't affect the speed of the game itself as far
as I can tell, just the speed of your ship.
I have only done this w/ a Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D so
I'm not sure if it will work w/ others but it's worth a shot. |
