Chaos Dwarfs Variations

/clipart/hrules/Generic/marble.gif

The Chaos Dwarfs are one of my favorite armies in Warhammer fantasy.  Unfortunately, they were a product of the White Dwarf and not fully developed before getting the "axe".  The following is divided into three parts.  The first is modificatios to existing rules; the second is the same, but in a negative manner; the third are my own additions.  The latter are entirely new.  This should help flesh out the army list, and is fairly balanced.

BULL CENTAURS

1]  Allow a Bull Centaur Lord to be chosen for the Army General.

2]  The existing combination of light armor and shield makes little sense.  Indeed, in two published White Dwarf battle reports they have heavy armor according to the roster.  Allow them to have heavy armor as standard, this will not change the point cost.  As an option, allow the units to have shields at +1 point per model.

Chaos Dwarf Warriors

Having only one option for such is a travesty when their cousins are allowed so many troop options.  I break the warriors down into three distinct options.  Any one of which may be fielded to satisfy the regiment requirement.

1]  CD Warriors:  Heavy Armor, shield, hand weapon.  Cost 12 points per model

2]  CD Axemen:  Heavy Armor, two handed axe.  Cost 13 points per model

3]  CD Attack Squad:  Heavy Armor, extra hand weapon.  Cost 12 points per model

Additional Missile Troop

Warhammer 3rd edition featured crossbowmen for the old Chaos Dwarfs.  I bring them back.  They are equipped with heavy armor, hand weapon and crossbow for a cost of 14 points.  They do not have shields as an option to encourage the use of the blunderbuss stunties as shock troops.

Greenskin Take aways

1]  A Black Orc champion can only lead a Black Orc regiment, not a Orc or Goblin one as it normally could.

2]  Black Orc, Orc, and Goblin champions cannot be given a magic item.  These are slave troops, after all.

3]  Hobgoblin wolf riders are given light armor as standard, and shield as an option.  This is a reversal of the existing army list, but conforms the the models.  This increases the cost by one point.

0-1 Chaos Dwarf Grenadiers......15 points per model

The army can include one unit of these suicidal maniac units.  It MUST skirmish and cannot have more than 10 models.  The unit is armed with grenades, hand weapon, and light armor (to move quickly enough th skirmish) and does not have any options.

A grenade can be thrown 8".  Roll the scatter die  A hit is just that.  If it scatters, halve the die to see how far.  Use a US half dollar for the blast radius.  Anything under the "template" is hit on a 4+ for a strength 4 hit with a -2 save modifier.  A misfire and the grenade blows up in the hapless drawfs fist, giving him the hit.

Chariots....80 points

In keeping with the Assyrian them established by GW, allow the use of chariots.   Chariots come out of the war machine allowance, and cannot be used as "mounts"  by characters.

Equipment:  two wolves, a hobgoblin driver with hand weapon, a chaos dwarf warrior with heavy armor and a hand weapon.

Options:  may have sycthes at +20 points.  One chariot in the army may have a magic banner.  The chariot may have two extra wolves for +8 points.  The hobgoblin driver may have light armor at +2 point.  The chaos dwarf warrior may have ONE of the following; shield (+1), extra hand weapon (+1), or two-handed axe (+2)
