An old man, with a sword on his back, approaches you.

"Good day!" he smiles warmly. "I'm visiting from a far off land.. I don't suppose you know it.. it's not even in this time zone. 1000 A.D., to be precise... although I originally came from 12,000 B.C. on the floating island with the Palace of Zeal." He chuckles. "I doubt you know that place, either."

You request his name.

He scratches his chin. "My name? I shan't tell you, for it's a name that is easily forgeten."

Still wondering, you look at the sword on his back.

"Oh, this sword is amazing.. I mended it once thanks to a dreamstone, which I thought was long forgotten. Glenn.. or rather known by his friends, Frog, let me have it as a keepsake. He had all the memories he needed of his friend. It's known as the Masamune.. it has amazing powers."

Remembering your gaming experience, you recall that the man's name is written upon the Masamune. You see many, but not all, of the letters... M.. E.. L.. C...the rest is covered. Melcor? Melcio? What is this man's name??

The man smiles. "Of course, you didn't come here to learn about Chrono Trigger." Whatever that is. "You came to know the best deals of the market! Come, my friend. I shall teach you."

"The official currency of Nobillia is Jewels, as you know." He says as you two walk around the market. "This is equal to two talons, four credits, or half a gold coin."

He takes you to a small booth at the top of the fair, next to a spice dealer.

"Rice here sells for 3, 6, or 9 jewels a bag, depending on where you buy it. This woman, here, sells it for cheapest. Remember, she's right between the fish seller and the spice giver."

He buys four bags of rice, and moves to his left (the rice dealer's right), and nods. "This is where spice is cheapest. If you look around the market, you'll find spice for 2 beads, 4 rice, 3 pots, or 4 pots. We haven't gotten to beads yet, but I'll tell you, 4 rice is the best deal. And, coincidentally, he's right next to the rice dealer who sells rice for 3 jewels."

He buys a bag of spice, and moves right two boothes.

"This is the fish dealer. He's a cheap person, selling you a fish for 30 jewels which only recovers 30 HP for both characters."

"Hey!!" The fish dealer cries angrily. "Don't tempt him AWAY! Try some fresh fish, the freshest in the world!"

The man looks upon the fish deale in disgust. "Go to the Inn for a better recovery for cheaper."

The fish man curses and shoos you off.

You follow him for about 10 seconds to the west, and stop. He says, "On the west wall is the woman who sells pots. They're very unique, but they won't help, just get you spice a little easier. They're 2 bags of rice. Seem like a bad deal? Worry not. Sometimes, you may find an item inside one of the pots, even a rare chocobo egg which increases HP."

As you walk south, he says, "On the west wall, if you walk down a little, to your left (that would be the gamer's right), you'll see a perfume seller next to a spice dealer. The perfume is linked to a few items, but is semi-pricy for 3 jars of expensive spice."

"Next we have.. chickens!" he walks past a knife juggler, who's having a hard time. "In the center of the market, there's a girl surrounded by chickens. She'll trade one for 1 spice and 2 rice, which is cheaper than perfume. Sort of funny, huh?"

He walks more to the east, and you follow. "This woman, in the booth with rugs, sells tapestries of mummified cats. She's along the east wall, and they're a mere 3 beads each. We'll get to beads in a bit."

"Come back and buy a tapestry!!!" the woman yells as you walk south, following the man. "This is where you find armor and other items." he says. "The Jade Disk is in the south-west corner of the market. You can get it for three chickens and three beads. It increases your evade."

He slaps his head. "Beads! I forgot to show you where to get beads! Follow me." He walks to the west side of the market. "In the marketplace, beads are sold for 10 jewels, 12 jewels, or 1 rice and 3 jewels. If you've been paying attention, you'll know that 1 rice and 3 jewels is the best deal. Along the west wall is the person who sells beads for so cheap."

You travel a few yards north. "This is the person who sells you a souvenir spoon! You can buy one, if you wish. It's 2 spice. Up north some more, is a person who offers you a Magic Gourd for a chocobo eggs." He leans over to whisper into your ear, "Don't do it. The gourd does nothing."

He travels west some. Your feet begin to ache. "The Amulet of Annhilation is sold for 30 rice.. or so it seems. The man is very desperate-keep saying no to his prices until he says 15 bags of rice for one amulet. Don't go lower than that, or he won't trade with you. You don't have to buy any, since three amulets (all you need) are hidden in Gothica, where you'll need them, but just in case you can't find all three hidden amulets, better buy one or two here. You can also get across the desert easy this way."

"Next to the amulet seller is the Golden Jackel seller. A Golden Jackel is a religious item, used for worship in Nobilla, and thus costs quite a bit.. 5 spice and two chickens. You're gonna need to buy some, though. Go east a bit, and you'll find armor polish. Trade the Silver Sheath and 75 jewels for it.

"Speaking of the Silver Sheath, you can find it south in the market. It'll cost either the Sun Stone, Armor Polish and 75 Jewels, or a Golden Jackal and 10 jars of spice."

You ask him where to find the Sun Stone.

"Ah," he smiles. "It costs a Limestone Tablet and 5 bags of rice, and it's found in the south west corner of the market."

You scratch your head. They sell Limestone Tablets here? You ask him what's up with that.

He points towards the shop. "Over there, enter the shop and come out the other side. They will sell Limestone Tablets for only 4 spice an 2 beads. Also there, you will find the rare Jeweled Scarrab for 1 spice and 2 bottles of Perfume."

"Keep working around the southern part of the market for the Ruby Heart. It will help you a lot. It costs either the Moxa Stick or a tapestry, a jeweled scarab, and a limestone tablet, all rare items. Near the Ruby Heart is the Moxa Stick. This amazing item makes all Healing attacks and items have increased strength. For example, a Petal refills 50 HP instead of 40. It costs 2 chickens, a jeweled scarrab, and 12-yes, 12-jars of spice. It's worth it-trust me!"

"A while ago, a young adventurer, about 13, came to Evermore from some place called Podunk. What he did was that he didn't buy any armor until he was called to fight Vigor the Indestructable, because he found special armor inside the waiting zone before the fight. If you ever find yourself in the colleseum, search the walls." He chuckles, but you feel a little frightened. What does he mean by that?!?

"Anyway, if you do decide to get armor, in the south east part of the market, you can find the Bronze Gauntlets for 1 spoon and 2 tapestries. After you buy the Bronze Gauntlets, the man will offer the Gloves of Ra.. for the Moxa Stick. Everyone wants that Moxa Stick, huh? Anyway, I wouldn't do it. The Gloves of Ra aren't THAT important, are they?"

"The Obsidean Helmet, in the northern half of the market, is 10 spice. Sort of spicey, huh? Anyway, you can trade a Jeweled Scarab for a Stone Vest in the southern part of the market."

He pauses for a moment. "I think I have covered everything, correct? Now I suppose you are ready to walk around the markekt for yourself, correct? If you'll excuse me, I think I need some Armor Polish-heh heh heh." He walks away, and you can barely make out what the sword says, "M-E-L-C-H-I-O-R....."

You shrug and sit down. Your legs are tired from running around the marketplace..in a few minutes, you feel ready to go, and stand up, wondering where to go.
