Tinker's Alchemy

For those of you who wonder where Lance is..

Sit up, Boy!

<bgsound src="soecastle.mid" loop=infinite>

You approach a... weird..little man.. staring at the statue. He instantly jumps up, and greets you.

"Ah!!" he says, grinning. I have been expecting you. Actually.. I have not."

Err..whatever. You request that he shines upon you with his knowledge of alchemy.

"Oooh!!" He jumps. "Alchemy! My favorite topic! Let's see what I can teach you."

He rolls back his shoulders. "First, magic. No, not alchemy, magic, as in call beads. You will find call beads throughout your journey, which will make your friends help you with powerful magical spells. Some you don't know, and some you do, but it's always nice to give them a try."

"After chatting with Elizab-I mean, Fire Eyes, she'll allow you to use her attacks. Flare is a powerful fireball, twice as strong as Flash. Heat Wave is an attack, not as strong as Flare, but it hits all enemies on the screen. Storm causes a Lightning Bolt of power. Life Spark was a nice heal spell which recovers HP, and is useful if you're low on life."

"Horace Highwater, in the camp near Crustasia, will give you three magics. Later on, though, you can find two others that Horace uses. Time Warp recovers as much HP as the last attack dealt. First Aid is a more powerful heal than Fire Eyes's Life Spark. Confound confuses the enemies, making them run away from you. In the Pyramid, you can find his Regenerate, which works just like a Pixie Dust-if you die, you come back to life with a few HP. In Gothica, keep checking the trees south of Ivor Tower. There will be a few pathes-one should get you Aura, which makes you invincible for a while."

"Camelli-I mean, Princess Miranda Bluearden is also a very good magic user, and after talking to her, she'll give you her powers. Shield makes it so that you take half damage from enemies. It lasts longer than Horace's Aura. Plague posions an enemy. Hypnosis freezes the enemy-the more HP the enemy has, the longer the enemy is frozen. Shock Wave is a PoWeRfUl spell, hurting all enemies."

"Professor Ruffleberg's powers are probably the most powerful of all. Restore completely refills both players' HP. Electra-Bolt makes an even stronger blast than Shock Wave. Finally, Disrupt confuses the enemy for longer than Horace's Confound."

He scratches his chin. "In Prehistoria, Fire Eyes will give you Flash. Flash is a powerful weapon, and about half as strong as her Flare, which you can only use via call beads. It costs 1 Wax and 2 Oil."

"Hard Ball, in Bugmuck, is a little weaker than Flare, but it's requirements are easier to fulfill. It costs 1 Crystal and 1 Clay."

"Acid Rain is off the trail from the path behind Thrax. It costs 1 Ash and 3 Water-definetly not good enough to keep."

"Defend is in Fire Eyes's village after you save Stoneheart from Bugmuck. It's to the west of the armor shop, hidden in the trees. It increases your defense for just 1 Clay and 1 Ash-not bad!"

"Cure, south of Fire Eyes's village in Stoneheart's hut, costs 2 Roots and 1 Oil. It heals Poison, Confound, etc. but doesn't restore HP. I'd usually save my Roots for Heal."

"Miracle Cure is an alchemy found way later in the game, when you have the windwalker. Go to Stoneheart's hut. It does the same as Cure, except recovers a little life, too. It's 2 Roots and Vinegar."

"Heal is one of the more powerful spells in Prehistoria. It recovers HP, to either one or both of your dynamic duo. For just 1 Root and 1 Water, you can cast it and bring back your poor, lost HP. It is obtained after defeating the lizards in the graveyard."

"Levitate is one of the two "needed" spells in Evermore, and it's found on top of the volcano. It lifts rocks, and is useful in Nobilla-try using it on a rock north of town. You need 1 Mud Pepper and 1 Water-where will you find a Mud Pepper? Maybe in the other swamp, not Bugmuck, someone can help you.."

"Speed increases your evade. It's found in the volcano, inside one of the walls. 1 Wax and 2 Water is a little pricey, but, hey-Acid Rain is an ash and three water."

He rolls back his shoulders. "There are many alchemies in Antiqua, too."

"Crush is one of my favorites. Blimp gives it to you when you stop by his cave. It's a pretty strong attack, and only costs 1 Limestone and 1 Wax to use."

"Sting is among the hardest to find alchemies in the game. Thanks to VanBrain for telling me the exact location of it! I've found it before, but on luck. It's a somewhat powerful attack costing 2 Water and 1 Vinegar. Enter the desert from the south side. Go to the Oasis a little north of the skeleton in the boat, and head straight west. When you reach an Oasis, head straight north-west. When you reach an Oasis, head north until you find a guy in an Oasis who will give you Sting.

"Revive is obtained after going back to Blimp's cave with the dog. For 3 Roots and 1 Bone, you will bring the dog back to life with some HP."

"Atlas increases your strength for 1 Atlas Medallion and 1 Ash. It's found behind the crates of the shopkeeper in Nobilla's shop. A strong guy gives it to you, and sells the Atlas Medallion. First one is 100, second one is 150, etc."

"Barrier is one of the most useful alchemies in the game. Later, when you have the flying car, go to the palace of Nobilla. Horace will give you it, and you'll be able to use it for 1 Limestone and 2 Bone. Magic attacks do no effects, including damage, and it recovers a little life. Awesome!!"

"Drain is found on the Right side of the back, west of Crustacia. For 1 Ethanol and 2 Roots, you can take HP away from the enemy and give it to yourself."

"Double Drain is found in the same place, but it's after you get the windwalker. It absorbs more HP than drain for 2 Water and 2 Vinegar."

"Revealer is the other needed spell, though if you've played SOE before, you won't need it. This spell opens pathes over some pits-use it when a path leads you to a hole-there may be a path. It's 2 Ash and 1 Wax."

"Escape allows you to leave interior places, like caves and dungeons. It's 1 Wax and 1 Vinegar, and is obtained after going back to Horace's camp and talking to Madrius after getting one Diamond Eye."

"Fireball is 4 times stronger than Flare, or twice as strong as Fire Eyes's Flare. For just 1 Brimstone and 2 Ash, you can cause sheer havoc on enemies. It's found in the Hall of Collosia. When you fight the monk who gives you the spear, check the lower-left corner. You'll be surprised to see a hidden passage to Madrius's brother."

"Gothica, continent of Ivor Tower and Ebon Keep, is the home to a lot of alchemy, too, mostly attacking."

"Lance is among the hardest to find spells in the game. In Ivor Tower, go upstairs in Lance's house (the people inside the house will tell you it's his), but DON'T take the treasure. Walk to the stairs, and Lance himself will come up, and give you Lance. Then you can take his treasure!! >:) It's a pretty powerful spell for 1 Iron and 1 Acorn.

"Fire Power can only be received if you got the Queen's Key in the vents. The damage done is equal to your current HP, so leveling it up is useless. For 1 expensive Feather and 1 Brimstone, you can use it. It's found in the Queen's castle, inside one of the locked doors."

"Corrosion is found in the Ivor Tower sewers. It poisons the enemies for 1 Mushroom and 3 Water."

"One Up is a useful but hard to find spell. It's found in the forest, though the exact location I cannot tell you. It costs 1 Feather and 1 Root, and heals one hero to full HP."

"Super Heal is found in Ebon Keep. The young boy/old man in the left wing will ask you to guess the number of marbles in his hand, and if you get it right, he'll give you this powerful spell which recovers both heroes HP to full for just 2 Ethanol and 1 Acorn."

"Regrowth is found behind one of the houses in Ebon Keep, and for 1 Acorn and 2 Water, your HP will increase until you are hit. Rosa, Cecil's wife gives it to you-whoo for cameos!"

"Explosion costs 2 Ethanol and 1 Ash, and is a powerful spell that can even blow up some barriers. It's found by reading the book in my-I mean, Tinker's room."

"Slow Burn is found by reading the book on the bookcase in.... Tinker's room. For 1 Iron and 1 Brimstone, the enemy's HP decreases slowly."

"Lightning Storm is found after defeating Sterling at the top of Gomi's tower. For 1 Iron and 2 Ash, you can unleash this powerful spell."

"Nitro is a wonderful spell, too. After going back to Tinker's with the flying car, open up the chest for this spell, which costs 1 Gunpowder and 2 Grease fo a huge explosion."

"Force Field is found by going under the chessboard after talking to Ruffleberg. The next physical attack does no damage with this awesome spell, which costs 1 Grease and 1 Iron."

"Stop freezes the enemy for a while for 2 Wax and 1 Crystal-easy, cheap fulfillments, huh? If you buy the Oracle Bone and talk to the man who gives you Force Field, he'll surrender this alchemy."

"Omnitopia is only home to three alchemies," he says, with a grin. "But they are among the most powerful in the game."

"Reflect repels magic for a while. After saving the female robot from the monsters, she'll return to her post. Go there and speak to her, and she'll give you this spell, which costs 2 Grease and 1 Iron."

"Call Up is a GREAT spell-every time you cast it, you gain a Call Bead. Ruffleberg gives it to you. Too good to be true? It is. It costs 1 Dry Ice and 1 Meteorite, and there are only 6 in the entire game. Oh well-it's still cool."

"Energize is given to you by Ruffleberg. This final spell automatically makes your weapon power up to level three, except it screws up the bazooka. It costs 1 Crystal and 1 Iron-definetly worth it."

He groans and stretches. "I'm done. Goodbye."

He returns to examining the sacred dog, and you feel the need to leave him alone.
