Morphaeus is the Chief Techmarine of the Dark Star Chapter of Space Marines. Based in the Chapter's fortress on Draago-Ripaasta, Morphaeus can generally be found supervising work crews and instructing the younger Techmarines who are eager to learn from his vast knowledge and experience. However, from time to time Morphaeus has been known to venture far from his Chapter's fortress in search of ancient and legendary artifacts and archeotech. His vast knowledge, after all, is not based solely on years of tinkering!

In his many travels, Morphaeus has located a number of semi-functioning STC databases which he has used to improve the efficiency of Dark Star's vehicles and weaponry. Of greatest interest is an STC template that outlines the materials and assembly instructions for a suit of Tactical Dreadnought (Terminator) Armour. However, the STC template was damaged before it was located by Morphaeus, and he has searched for nearly a century now in hopes of finding a template that might bear the few remaining pieces of the puzzle.

Though he was trained on Mars among the Tech Priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus, Morphaeus's true loyalties lie with his Chapter, and to his Chapter Master Daarick Ulterion. Despite several requests and demands from the Adeptus Mechanicus, none of his findings have been turned over to them, which has earned him quite a few enemies amongst their numbers. They jealously desire the knowledge he has obtained, and only Morphaeus's position within his Chapter have protected him from their wrath.
