USS Bismark, NCC1723
The original Bismark was the stuff of ledgends. If Enterprise was known for
always performing above spec, the Bismark was known for it's durability. Time and
again it proved itself by holding together while enduring terrible damage.
The crew of the original Bismark did not work together smoothly at first. It took
time for them to become accustomed to each other and find their place in the team.
This problem was compounded by the unfortunate tendancy of the captain to die. The
captain was killed and replaced three times before word of this "curse" got around.
Then Starfleet promoted the First Officer to fill the slot and their luck seemed to
change.
The Bismark was refit
to Enterprise class early in the campaign. In this era, just after ST1:TMP, it
was the most powerful class of ship Starfleet could field, and the Bismark went
on to explore many strange new worlds, boldly extending the boundaries of Outback
Sector.
The original Bismark was eventually decomissioned after too many years of heavy
damage took their toll. |
USS Bismark, NCC1723A
The new Bismark
had a strange and curious history. It was Christened the Bismark A to honor the
Bismark's actions in saving the Catian and Groat races from mutual genocide. Later,
the Bismark A came in contact with a strange and powerful extra-dimensional being.
Years later and after many adventures (most not chronicled in my campaigns) the Bismark A
was decomissioned and broken down for parts, most of which were sold on the open market.
The Crime Lord Nacilis concieved of a daring and far reaching plan. Through
scientific genius, he learned that the strange extra-dimensional being was in its
infancy when the Bismark A first disturbed it, and had 'imprinted' on it like a
baby bird imprints on the first thing it sees when it is born. He planned to reassemble
the Bismark A and the Extradimensional being it would control woul grant him
unimaginable power! Spending a fortune, more than it would cost to build the Bismark
originally, Nacilis had his agents buy up all the parts available, and secretly
assembled them. The gaps were filled in with contemporary materials and lesser
technologies, so the final result was very unreliable, certainly not combatworthy.
The Bismark B crew managed to thwart Nacilis's plan, and seized the Bismark A.
They turned it over to Starfleet, who assigned it to Starfleet Intelligence Command
because it was a capital ship unknown to the press and enemy spies. Intelligence
command refit the ship, making it somewhat safer. After the Bismark B was destroyed
by Nacilis, members of the Bismark B crew began a new campaign on board the old
and unreliable Bismark A
The Bismark A was eventually destroyed during the war against the Forerunners. |
USS Bismark, NCC1723B
The Bismark B
was built after the Battle of Wolf 359 in order to recover from the damage to
Starfleet inflicted by the Borg. It's first mission was to follow up on the
clues that might possibly be relics of the Preservers, a theory recently confirmed
by Picard. Later, the Bismark B and its crew single handly destroyed Nacilis's
criminal empire, but in the final battle the Bismark was mortally wounded and then
destroyed.

USS Bismark, NCC1723C
This final
Bismark was the second ship of this class to be produced, after the Enterprise. It
was named the Bismark to honor the Bismark A crew's heroic actions thwarting Changeling
plots. Just before it was to be prevesented to the Bismark crew, it was spacejacked
by the Aggamemnon crew, but they returned control to the Bismark crew once they
had traveled back in time to face the Forerunner empire and were committed to the
great Quest.
The final fate of the Bismark C is not determined. When the campaign ended, the
Bismark C was racing to the rendezvous point to stand with the fleet at the fist
battle against the Borg featured in the movie First Contact. |
