Alan Parsons

  • The Alan Parsons Project: Tales of Mystery and Imagination Edgar Allan Poe (1976)
  • The Alan Parsons Project: I Robot (1977)
  • The Alan Parsons Project: Pyramid (1978)
  • The Alan Parsons Project: The Turn of a Friendly Card (1980)
  • The Alan Parsons Project: Eye in the Sky (1982)
  • The Alan Parsons Project: Stereotomy (1984)
  • Try Anything Once (1993)

Every Alan Parsons Project I listen to, I like. For those who don't know, Alan Parsons isn't the lead vocalist of these albums, nor does there seem to be any permanent member. Alan Parsons is the producer of these albums as well as the major song writer, thus they are called the Alan Parsons Projects. I heard the music termed progressive rock, and though I'm not completely sure of the definition, I think it suits his style. The best songs, though, are the instrumentals he creates. There are about three on every album. My favourite of these albums, and the one I recommend the most, is The Turn of a Friendly Card. For reasons beyond by knowledge, Alan Parsons drops the Project theme on the Try Anything Once album.

Just a little side note, Parsons was also the engineer on some Pink Floyd albums. Dark Side of the Moon is a good example of his work. He did the footsteps in On the Run and the clocks in Time, among other things.

Much thanks goes out to Mr. Bob, W. Dowden, Newman's, and of course Sam (who took the time to go downtown with me).
