- Heavy Metal Music From the Motion Picture (1981)
Remember that way cool animated film called Heavy Metal, based on the comic magazine of the same name? Well this is the awesome soundtrack to that film. This double record features various of artists and groups. Some of the those included: Black Sabbath (post-Ozzy), Devo, Donald Fagen (of Steely Dan fame), Cheap Trick, and Journey. One of my favourite songs of the album was Veteran of the Psychic Wars by Blue Oyster Cult. What a bizarre time of transition this was for a record to come out. Many of the songs still had that seventies rock feeling, but they were definitely leading into the heavy metal genre.This is a really great album to pick up for early eighties rock.
