Henry Rollins

  • The Boxed Life (1992)
  • Everything (1996)

Rainy day? Bored? Feeling like crap?... Yeah, I know. Then listen to these performances of Henry Rollins. From the man himself comes double CD albums of spoken word and an audio version of the "Everything" chapter from his book Eye Scream.

Taken from various shows that he's done from San Francisco to Dublin to Sydney, Australia, The Boxed Life is block solid full of sleep deprivation, humour, and Rollins' stylish bitching. Who else could talk about hate as an art concept, relate a story about killing thousands of rodents to strength, and dipict depression as a sought after state of mind, and actually have people listen to him? If your a Rollins fan you'll love this one.

Not as straight forward as the stand-up comedy of the previous album, Everything is chalk loaded full of dark humour as Rollins takes it all on. A manafesto of things too ugly for you to hear or read, this is everything. It's not just an indepth look at love, drugs, and violence, but a trip into paranoid rage and insanity. Not for the weak of stomach.

Much thanks goes to April, Fishspawn, and the Urban Sound Exchange.
