Megadeth

  • Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? (1986)
  • Countdown to Extiction (1992)
  • Hidden Treasures (1995)

Megadeth isn't a senseless heavy metal band as some might think. Dave Mustaine's lyrics are intelligent and executed precisely in his very identifiable style. Their guitars are loud and fast, but noise it is definitely not. Megadeth is a far cry from today's garbage that they play on Muchmusic and the radio. One of the top heavy metal bands of the eighties, they were too good to just die off. Their music has changed and evolved over the years but no matter what, the band still retains its roots in metal. Countdown to Extinction is a lot heavier than their more recent album, Youthanasia, and it is fairly well-known by its single: Symphony of Destruction. Hidden Treasures on the other hand is Megadeth's contribution to today's growing number of EPs. It contains eight songs which were either from movie soundtracks or were previously unreleased. With covers on Alice Cooper and Black Sabbath, as well as the single 99 Ways to Die, this one's strictly for the fans.

Thanks to Gasher for increasing my interest in them.
