Stargrunt II

Stargrunt II is a miniatures game.
That means that it is played on a table set up with miniature terrain: hills, forests, rivers, etc., and the playing pieces are little models of the troops or vehicles involved in the conflict.

This game represents units at the squad level. That means that, while your troops are modelled as individual figures, they act in groups of 4 to 10. The quality/experience level of each squad is important, as well as how well they are led. A lot of specifics, like all the details of the weapon each soldier is carrying, are not that important.

Stargrunt II is intended for use with 25mm figures. That means that the height of a model representing a typical human soldier would be 25mm from ground to eye level. However, I don't have many figures in that scale. I do have a lot of approximately 6mm scale figures, however. Because the emphasis is on squads, not units, the fact that my 1/4 inch high soldiers don't differ very much is not a problem. Where SGII normally uses inches for measurement of firing ranges and movement, I switch to centimeters.

Here are some pictures of my first Stargrunt II battle, using 6mm figures. Stargrunt does not require any particular kinds of figures, so I've been mounting my Games Workshop "Epic" scale figures on washers and using those.

pic2 : A view of most of the battlefield. You can see the Imperial Guard on the other side. The Space Marines began on the near side of the bridges.

pic3 : On the other side of the board, two squads of Space Marines (light powered armor) head over a bridge.
