WHOMP'S FORTRESS

CHIP OFF WHOMP'S BLOCK

After the Thwomps, Piranha Plants, and rotating bridge, Mario runs into two minor Whomps, but it’s good practice for the upcoming battle with the King. From the elevators, leap off to the castle just as you come even with the lip of the platform. If you pound the King, you’ll win his Star.

TO THE TOP OF THE FORTRESS

Go back to the top of the fortress. A tower with a spiraling stairway of platforms will now stand at the center of the area. Some of platforms move in and out of the tower. Mario must jump from one platform to the next to reach the pinacle where he will find the Star.

SHOOT INTO THE WILD BLUE

The pink Bob-omb Buddy, on the lower level near the pool, prepares the cannon for Mario’s soaring flight. Your target is the balcony below the flagpole. Aim directly at the flagpole, slightly above the brick platform, then fire. Slide down the pole to collect the star.

RED COINS ON THE FLOATING ISLE

Coin 1- On the path leading to the Thwomps Coin 2- Above the second Thwomp Coin 3- Near the Paranha Plants Coin 4- Same as 3 Coin 5- Next to the rotating bridge Coin 6- Under the bridge Coin 7- On the floating island (get there by punching the plank near the tower) Coin 8- Same as 7

FALL ONTO THE CAGED ISLAND

Climb the tree near the begining to make the owl fly out and begin circling around. Mario can catch the bird by jumping when its shadow passes direcly overhead. If you hold the A Button, Mariowill be carried aloft by his feathered friend. You can guide the bird with gentle nudges on the control stick. Head for the floating cage. When you see your shadow on the cage, release the A Button to drop in and claim the Star.

BLAST AWAY THE WALL

Climb back in the cannon, aim at the corner of the brick near the rotating bridge, and blast awayy. Cunningly concealed in that corner is the sixth star. Get in the cannon again and blast yourself at the star to retrieve it.
