Be like Colin

If you honestly haven't got a clue who Colin is, how did you come to this site? Anyway, here are some fascinating ColFacts™ according to PC Gamer online.

  • His dad is famed horror/fantasy novelist Chet Williamson, author of such best-sellers as City of Iron and Murder in Cormyr.
  • He used to go out with a practicing witch. Or almost did, at least.
  • He was fired from Blockbuster for taking videotapes into the toilets, or something.
  • He will be moving to Japan to study sometime in the next year. He'll probably come back once he's done....
  • His favorite game of the moment is WWF Warzone on the Nintendo 64.
  • He got his mother to make a rather nice stuffed Coconut Monkey for PC Gamer.

COLIN TALKS ALL ABOUT HIMSELF (Jan. 1999)

Is there any significance to why your parents named you Colin?
I think it's Native American for Little Bear. But most people mispronounce it as 'Colon'.

Besides the Mr. T related web sites, what do you like to visit on the internet?
Those nutty 'Ate my balls' pages. Anything involving cheap Dreamcasts (I KNOW I can find one for under $400!)

What fast food place should know you on a name to name basis by now?
Taco Bell and Sheetz

Where are you taking classes right now?
Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Do you plan on earning a degree?
Yep, in Communications.

What are you going to study in Japan?
Language, culture... and maybe a little Judo.

Why do the Japanese have game shows where they always seem to be torturing each other?
Because people getting beaten / skewered / lit on fire is funny... not to me, though.

Besides your upcoming trip to Japan, what other countries have you visited?
England, Scotland, Belgium, Canada... and Texas.

I just visited your T vs. Halflife web pages. That was cool! Did you really do that all in one night? Do you have super powers or something?
The only power I have is the power of raw boredom. Took around 11 hours... on and off.

What journalism experience or training have you had that led you to where you are now?
Did some work on old Apple II newsletters, worked on the last surviving Apple II magazine... that was about it. I've never had any formal training apart from High School English.

Describe the events of your average day.
Wake up Check email Shower Breakfast Go to class Lunch Check email PCG Work Jujitsu classes Dinner PCG Work / Play Sleep

Say you got the chance to do the voice of a guest character on 'The Simpsons'. Describe the character or his role in the episode.
He'd be one of those guys who hangs out in the software store and makes fun of the games that you buy.

What is the best free promotional item you've seen or received since you've been with PC Gamer?
The die-cast Hummvees from Accolade rocked... just a lot of hats and t-shirts.

Will I ever see a PC version of 'BEER QUEST' on the PC Gamer CD?
God, I hope so. Some day I'll get around to porting that to Quake Engine.

What was the first computer game you can remember playing?
Zork and Wishbringer with my father.

Finally, What's this about Busta Rhymes mooning you?
I went to a Busta Rhymes concert (I always am willing to try something once). Anyway, at the end of the concert, I was in the front row and doing the whole "woo ha" thing. Then Busta turns around and bares his ass for all to see. I was truly frightened, and wanted to get out of there ASAP!
