I found a neat site that deals with the best fishing times durning the day and night based on the moon's position. The link for it is: http://www.fishingworks.com/lunar_feeding.cfm. I decided to give it a try. Beings I am still feeling the sunburn, I thought I would go at night. The good news is, that I caught 2 bass within the first 15 minutes of being out there. The bad news is neither one was big enough to keep. (I don't keep fish, beings I don't like the taste of them, but I do sure like catching them.) I had to pack it in after only 15 minutes though. I didn't bring any insect repelent and the "skeeter's" were eating me alive. I guess tonight I get to find out the joys of having mosquito bites on top of a sunburn. Crap. Anyway, I caught both bass using a bright yellow split-tail with silver glitter imbedded in it. I was fishing at 10 Mile Creek Conservation Area just west of Belle Rive, IL. About the only ones who call it that are the people who aren't from around here. All of us "yokels" call it the coal mines, the strip pits, or just the pits. It used to be Ead's Mine before they shut down in the early 70's.
