Deep in the Thunder Mountains lay the obsidiman commmunity where Rutegur was trained to defend The Valley of The Life Rock by his mentor Urthik Stonespeaker. Watching over The Valley, he became increasingly convinced that unnatural powers were at work, destroying the earth's balance. When the injured human wizard RoNal appeared suddenly one day, speaking of ancient kaers and Horrors still walking this plane, Rutegur could stand by no longer and set off on his journey.
Rutegur is strong and quick, a consummate warrior, peaceful by nature like those of his kind but possessed of an uncharacteristic fire. Tending to be reflective, when not in the think of battle, he can often be found writing in his own journal or penning the latest exploits of The Blades of Dawn. Torn by guilt from not having been able to prevent the death of RoNal, nor the sundering of The Blades, nor the death of Urthik because of a Theran plot, Rutegur has taken it upon himself to see all
Horrors driven from this world and the Theran Empire destroyed.
"So then I kicked him," says Rutegur. "That's right. I don't make a habit of kicking animals, but he wasn't listening to me. And I certainly didn't mean to wound him. Who would think that a Dyre would have such a soft head? But it raised quite a welt. Worked wonders for his disposition though. Did I ever tell you about the time we were ambushed by Skeorx? Those are nasty beasts to say the least. Well, they came out of nowhere... oh excuse me! I didn't see you there, come in. I'm not going to attack you, not without good reason anyway... no wait, come back. I was only kidding. There, come in. I suppose that everyone's a little jumpy, with everything in such a state anymore. It is my goal in life to bring back the peaceful times before the Horrors and the Therans brought their taint into the world. I am called Rutegur Stonespeaker, what is your name?"
