This is a page dedicated to Theme Decks for Magic: The Gathering®, a collectible card game. For me, a large part of the fun in playing the game came from planning and contructing the decks. The idea behind theme decks grew from my desire for variety in play, not to mention a number of attempts to prove to others that cards they disdained were not useless. I don't like resource-intensive, heavy-handed deck designs; for the cost of one powerful, killer deck I can make ten amusing, effective theme decks. So I looked at the cards available and I invented themes to construct decks around. As more and more(and more and more) sets came out, I added new cards and new themes until I couldn't keep up with the sets anymore. I hope that the following will interest and inspire.
Before we begin, I want to clarify the idea of theme decks. I've seen big creature decks and direct damage decks. Those don't qualify. They're ridiculous and tend to take as much effort as a killer tournament-style deck, although there are commons that could really work. An interesting twist on those ideas, like non-creature decks or indirect damage decks, can work as theme decks, depending on whether or not they're overwhelming. I would rather win because of skill and clever planning than on pulling increasingly nasty cards or combinations.
