Chapter I "The Dawning of a New Age"

CONVENTION

"Look to the sky! Look
to your deliverance! Your salvation draws nigh! yells Imogen the Astrologer.
Three nights ago a large glowing moon had appeared in the sky above Quellbourne.
It has since grown in intensity and size heralding all sorts and manner
of prophecies. The followers of Ruusak say it should be welcomed, while
the followers of Shaaljin express great concern. Others have different
views.
Lord Carlmund, First Bishop
of Quellbourne and Chancellor Andon sit in the stateroom of Carlmund's
residence contemplating this latest revelation. "What are your thoughts
on this my friend" says the Bishop breaking a long and uncomfortable silence.
"My Lord, I am at a loss. I know what we found in the 'Garden of Hope'
has something to do with it but what, at this stage, I do not know". "I
too am at a loss, but we need to say something. Quellburn is looking to
us amidst all the confusion. The Lady of the Garden is so far silent on
this one" answers Carlmund with grave concern. "Is it truly a sign from
the Lady? Is it from this Great Light that the Lady of the Garden told
us about? It is certainly a 'great light' in the heavens or is it something
more sinister?" thinks Andon aloud. "If it is indeed from the Lady then
we must welcome this sign and usher in this 'New Age of the Great Light',
but if this is something evil we could be leading the city of Quellburn
and maybe even the whole land of Quellbourne and beyond to destruction"
answers Carlmund. "And if it turns out to be on our side will we also risk
incurring the wrath of the heavens by ignoring the sign resulting in the
same dire consequences?" responds Andon gravely. "That is true, my friend,
but I still worry this Demon, which infested the Garden, is not yet totally
defeated" answers Carlmund with equal concern in his voice. "And is Imogen
right, and is this the way to finally destroy it?"
God is silent. The Lady of the
Garden cannot be contacted. The wondrous 'Garden of Hope', hundreds of
feet beneath the plateau where the city of Quellburn stands, can give no
knowledge. This same garden which gives spiritual power to Quellburn chooses
to give no answers. Carlmund and Andon continue pondering over this new
event knowing soon that they must give an answer amidst the confusion.
Is it good or evil? Perhaps neither? What is really happening? Is it indeed
"The Dawning of a New Age"?
The Year is 6,050 Third Era.
A few months after the liberation of Quellburn.
A One session DRAGONQUEST FREEFORM Adventure set in SHADOW WORLD for about 18+ puzzle solving players who don't mind a good fight. Good communication skills can be helpful although a sword or bow does get the message across nicely at times.
NO RULES KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED.
