Chapter I: "The Isle of the Dove"

A PREVIOUS GAME
Several members of Quellburn's inner
council "The New Council of the Magi" sit together discussing the outcome
of the recent excursion beneath the plateau. "It went well, or so I thought"
said Chancellor Andon Merchantson. "It did go well" interjects Beorn the
Orphan Maker. "The Garden was cleansed, the Lady pointed us to a new future
and the unexpected happened. This dead bird is just a minor setback. A
hideous crime that will be paid for". "How did it come to be here though?"
muses the Chancellor looking at the poor disfigured creature, it's heart
ripped through its chest. "And more importantly, who brought it and what
more damage has been done". The Garden is hundreds of feet below.
Andon's mind wanders back to that
tranquil scene, a few weeks earlier, in the Garden. A Garden once tore
apart by evil, now a place of new hope and peace. At least that is the
way he remembered leaving it. A place whose centerpiece was a wondrous
small island. An Isle where magnificent 500-foot tall Lunarni pines, home
to hundreds of strange white birds, grew around a central Mausoleum. A
Mausoleum of mystery for the Lady would say nothing of this, even when
questioned! Now one of these 'doves', as the Lady calls them, turns up
here in this state. "What does it all mean? We must assemble a strong guard
and return to the Garden. Something must be wrong!".
"No!" replies a weak raspy voice from
the shadows. "It is 'Iloura who points to the Light', she calls to me.
She was the one who sent the dove. It is a message!" "Obviously" says Andon.
"I will start assembling a force". "No" says the voice, again, even more
firmly. "She wants only the same to return again. No other's, for now,
will be able to enter. Help me up, we must leave immediately". New strength
surges through the crippled figure's body.
The Year is 6,050 Third Era. A few
months after the liberation of Quellburn

"NUMBER I: The End of the First"
A One session DRAGONQUEST Adventure set in SHADOW WORLD for 5-6 puzzle solving players who don't mind a good fight. Good communication skills can be helpful although a sword or bow does get the message across nicely at times.
