09/18/97- Lots and Lots of stuff on Quake
II. Why? Because I bought PC GAMER. The only magazine id let
see the game complete with many interviews. The article on Quake
II has many cool info on id, John Carmack, Quake II, the future, and a
bit on id's next project: TRINITY. Any game fan should buy
this issue. The magazine itself isn't that great. It gave Atomic
Bomberman a 75%, bashing the 500+MB of disk space needed and the clashing
colours in all the levels. The main features that will be in quake
II are:

weapons include: lazer pistol, uzi, shotgun, chain gun, rail gun, disintegrator,
hand grenade, and the missile launcher
-
the 1 player game has been totally improved and it's designed to interest
the player in the plot (there really is one).

there are two marines that play in the 1p game with you
-
monsters are much smarter and more powerful
-
you can duck
-
200 PLAYER DEATHMATCH!!!!!!
-
in deathmatch, player names apear above the heads of the person you're
aiming at
-
multi coloured lights (open GL only)
-
built in QuakeWorld
-
lava, that casts a red glow, it can also be drained
-
rotation of brushes is possible, including, roll down bridges, fans, doors
that swing open, etc
-
WIN 95 only
-
more custimization using DLLs as opposed to Quake C
-
cinematography
-
blood on monsters when you shoot them
-
massive levels due to a better way of "BSPing" them, however coloured lights
can take days to compile
-
no shareware version (same idea with DOOM, the first one's shareware, sequil
is comercial)
-
i didn't mention a lot, get this mag
-
much better graphics, much better play...this game WILL KICK ASS!
09/17/97- Quake II is almost finished, according
to STOMPED's QUAKE II SITE.
The programmer's list of "things to do" is really small and any new ideas
are too late. Shortly, all that will remain is testing. I just
finished Atomic Bomberman Tips and Atomic
Bomberman Mistakes. Please check them out and leave me your feedback.
