Elite Guard or Guard Captain
This character sheet can be used to represent the very best of the
regular soldiery - elite troopers, with plenty of combat under their
belt. These characters are also often found as the leaders of squads
of less efficient warriors. This type of fighter may sometimes be
found serving as a bodyguard for very wealthy merchants or as
personal retainers to important officials. The equipment of such
warriors can vary enormously. Regular chinese soldiers will normally
have sword, shield and spear, polearm or crossbow, and wear chain or
scale armour with a helmet. However, with an appropriate selection of
skills, it is also appropriate for the fierce steppes horsemen
sometimes used as enforcers and bodyguards by some chinese officials
- in which case they would have light chain or lamellar armour, light
swords and powerful bows. Warriors from China's northwestern borders
might also carry small shields.
Finally this sheet can be used for wandering swordsmen or bandit
leaders who are powerful fighters, but lack formal martial arts
training
