No Eyebrows appears to be a tall, gaunt Shaolin monk. He wears
grey robes, has his head shaven (even his eyebrows, on the advice of
an old mage, which is how he got his nickname) and carries the monk's
rosary and bowl. In manner also he conforms to the popular image of a
monk being quiet, polite and self-effacing. However he is really a
renegade, expelled from the temple for killing a fellow monk during
training. No Eyebrows is devoted to the perfection of his art. Having
been expelled from the Temple he wanders the country testing his Kung
Fu against any he deems worthy opponents. While this is not unusual,
No Eyebrows has no regard for rank or position in his quest. Now he
is wanted for killing an imperial tax collector who boasted of his
prowess, as well as several imperial officers sent out to arrest
him.
No Eyebrows is not a brawler and he has no personal vanity. When
facing a potential opponent, his usual approach is to spar with them,
and use "Analyse skill". If he deems his opponent is of unusual
skill, or uses unusual techniques he will attempt to defeat him -
normally sparring long enough to use his Find Weakness ability. He
will not necessarily try to kill his opponent unless that person
refuses to admit defeat when knocked unconcious, but he will not
consciously try to avoid killing them. On the other hand, if he
decides that the person does not pose a significant challenge, then
he will attempt to stop the fight and apologise for his conduct. Only
if his apology is ignored will he fight.
In his quest for worthy opponents, No Eyebrows has become
embroiled in local politics in several cases. Knowing of his prowess,
people have on occasion gone to him and praised the martial arts
skill of someone they wish to see injured. The mere hint that their
skill might surpass his own is normally enough to send him to seek
them out. He is not stupid however - if he thinks he is being used,
he will normally announce prior to any combat who it is that sent him
there. That way, his opponent - or his opponent's next of kin - can
take appropriate action.
No Eyebrows uses an unusual style of Gung Fu called Shadow Fist.
This is a soft or internal style which emphasises quick blows
delivered not with great force, but to Chi points in the body. In
addition, practioners of this art are able to move so swiftly that
they seem to defeat the eye and are even able to run swiftly up walls
or across roofs - a skill which allows No Eyebrows to confront his
intended opponents despite their walls and guards.
