Liu Chu Pan was once the greatest martial artist and
warleader of his clan, until he fell in love with An Lee, daughter of
a rival clan leader. The tragic events that folowed led to An Lee's
death, but she defied fate to rise again as a hungry ghost and take
her revenge on the Liu family. Although Liu Chu Pan opposed her, the
Liu family was ruined and in despair Liu Chu Pan gave up the sword.
He has sworn to kill no more. However, he never stopped loving An Lee
and eventually imprisoned her where she could do no harm. He stays
with her still, trying to persuade her to give up her unlife. His
ascetic lifestyle has rendered him more or less immune to cold, heat
or hunger - he barely notices the foul weather of his current
mountain-top retreat.
Liu Pan pays little attention to the niceties of grooming - his
hair and beard are wild and grey and he dresses in rags. He still
bears a straight chinese sword of exquisite make but only draws it
under great provocation - even then only to strike with the flat of
the blade.
