Tears poured from his eyes, and Rune broke out into a nervous laughter.
"I'm just your little marionette...and you USE me to make people suffer! For WHAT?! To fufill this so called destiny that you...YOU laid it out for me! You merciless bitch! Can't you hear "their" voices?!? They call out to me! They beg me to finish them off! To give them the sweet nectar of oblivion!! But it's YOU who makes me give it to them! I can still feel their blood on my hands you whore of a goddess! Their deaths are on MY soul, not yours! And for what?!" he choked out, his throat hoarse from screaming.
The goddess merely giggled and wrapped her arms around his neck with a loving, blithe attitude. "Justice..." she said in a soft tone, leaning into his lips. Rune threw her from him onto the ground and dismounted his massive sword from his back, holding it inches from her face. An evil grin wrapped around the lips of the beautiful goddess...it was still hard to accept that somone who was at one time the love of his life was now the goddess of chaos. "Simple idiot...it was my only choice. It was the only way you would listen to me, to let me near you." In frustration, Rune screamed and lunged at her with his blade, only to be deflected and sent sprawling by an invisible barrier. The woman laughed. "Aww, poor baby..." she said in a sappy voice, "you're just so confused aren't you?" She turned around and held her elbows in her arms. "We've been over this so many times. Destroy this body and she'll be dead, you know that there is no other way. So why make it difficult?" The woman giggled and turned to Rune with a smile beaming from her face. "But not to worry, you know I'll take good care of you. After all, you're my chosen one." She walked over Rune, lifting him up and leaned in close to whisper in his ear. "Your sword will change the world remember?" Rune shot back and fell to his knees, clutching his face with his hands. He had wished he never uttered those words so many years ago. Bad luck had been with him throughout his life. Yet, there was only more pain and agony for him in his days to come. Compliant, he rose to his feet and picked up his sword, holding it up in the moonlight and letting it's magnificent steel shine in his face.
"I will rescue her, no matter what the cost. I've caused so much death...but I will free myself from this curse." He strapped the weapon to his back, and looked at the maiden goddess in front of him. "I -will- get her back from you." he said in a very determined voice. The woman giggled and winked at the warrior. "That's what I love about you! You're so tenacious! Now be a good boy and maybe you'll get a reward..." The woman giggled and blew a kiss to Rune. With that, she dissapeared in a flash of light. Rune turned his back to where she had stood and clenched his fists, his arms hanging at his side. "Naomi..." He breathed a heavy sigh, and glanced back at the burning rubble of Koketsu's ancient home. "I love you, Naomi." he whispered.
