As the summer is getting further, homepage staff attempts to return from the holiday.. (let us see how it goes). So welcome once more to AAW homepage. There seems to be many interesting changes taking place in the MUD. Such are the new clan system with a bunch of new code to support it, improved note reading system (it is much better, try it!), and also our plan to split AAW main site to two different ports. The core code is so stabile and ready, that we can release a fixed site, ie no changes there (code wise)and also start a faster changing site, for you players can choose between-- can also play both! ;) This is however long-term plan and does not come to reality in near future. Also, Rhiannon has modified Seven Holy Places, to serve you better as practising place and its name is changed to Dwellings of the Soul Re-done is also Luihaulen'tar (Drow City) by Rhiannon and Land of Many Colors by Hikaru.

History milestones updated finally-- See Latest Changes (does anyone ever read those? ;). Also updated: Newbie Help and Clans. Next thing is to move to the reported bugs, expired info etc..

Korinth's excellent debut, a new area called Tower of High Sorcery, for levels 60..95 by is in! Many thanks Korinth!

28 May 01

New area Chambers of Trials for levels 10..99 by Rhiannon is in. This is for players to test their hit power against warrior mobs, whose level increase in steps of 10.

On the Homepage latest updates are made to the History, you can read the background story for Island of Altyra and also the Hyldonian Chronicle that priests of Bel are writing (it is now approximately year 135 if you have a look at it). Also "What's New" updated as usual.

The latest and hottest topic on player boards and discussion has been the new dual-level setup, where each player has True level (Tlevel) and Effective level (Elevel). What does it mean in practise? For players below legend levels (70+) Tlevel is the same as Elevel, ie there is no difference. For legends, each plus three Tlevels gives one Elevel and you can only get Elevel up to 80. For example a player whose Tlevel is 79, has Elevel of 73.

What are Tlevel and Elevel? Tlevel is the actual experience based level that a player has, whereas the effectiveness of spells and also equipment one can wear is dictated by Elevel. This makes fights between legends more even, because earlier the spells often had for example linear dependency on the level of spell caster. Meaning if someone was level 90 there was no way a level 70 could match him. These adjustments were basically made because it was widely agreed by both players and immortals that the earlier PKILL system, where one high level character was dominating the whole PK world, just didn't work.

Adjusting the system is on-going. So have patience, your opinions and well-being is the reason why the whole thing was introduced in the first place.

(OOC) Announcement: The Winner of World Ice-hockey Championship is Czech. Silver medal won by Finland and bronze by Sweden. The bankers of AAW thank everyone who wagered on the games!

Welcome to the official homepage of AAW! Latest changes in game here!

20 March 01

New board opened: Players' Board. Articles that are picked up to it are chosen from mud boards so you can't influence directly what gets selected. However the author's permission is always asked in advance.

New pictures added to Character Gallery, go have a look and send us yours too (RL or IC)!!

As AAW had her fourth birthday, we tuned the time counter to match the birth of AAW, so that year 0 equals to the moment we started back in 97. This also suits the theme based history better (of which more can be read on history).

We also added new affect into game: spell-power. This gives more damage to offensive spells, the idea is that at some stage in future it is beneficial for a spell-caster to collect gear which gives spell-power, whereas warrior type of players rely more on damageroll/hitroll. Adjusting items on areas to meet this has started, the following areas are done now: Styria, Castle of Death, Altyra, Temple of War, Caedhelm, Plains of the North and New Ofcol.

New dual-class combination list is in, and the algorithm which counts mud time has been modified, along with setting the time when AAW first started as year 0. This will give more realistic framing considering our world and RP, and is only a beginning of bigger project (more to be announced later!)

Happy Christmas Everyone! AAW wishes all her inhabitants the very best season greetings, and is proud to introduce a pair of great areas for you!

The Grande Finale in Kaen's Tolkien based saga of five Vetrandus areas: Nazgul Tower for levels 50 .. 70! This is a wide area with many mobs, progs, items, great amount of details and more! A simple must, where exploring in group is recommended!

The other one is from a talented new builder in AAW, Rowen's Caedhelm (levels 30..40), a Hyldonian stronghold and farming village located in the northeast lands of the Kingdom. This is based on Brimlan theme and holds much more than meets the eye!

30 November 00

Two new areas are in, Louhi's Mill as a new PK conquerrable town area and Tideless Realm, a timeless dimension, void, which links the realm of Aaweura to some existing parallel worlds.

Most recent addings to this homepage: We have more information about Gverdon and Hyldon available (for area builders and players who are interested in details). New maps are provided by the Great Cartographer Mabon: Altyra, Dark Forest and Underdark at Areas.

The new attributes Charisma and Luck are now in, you can view them with stat command. The fine tuning in code still takes place, also there isnt that many +Cha or +Lck items in game but we ll get those a few at the time.

The vote contest for Suite101's MUD listing is over now, and we got an amazing 940 registered votes which is incredible! I have to say I am very proud of us all thank you so much all who used their time and effort to achieve this! Our competitor was able to generate even more (by the time the contest was whistled off), but there is no reason to be disappointed. We did excellent job and got onto Suite101 listing for that! Below is a sketch of the last 10 days accumulated votes, please note that the actual vote ended on 8.11 midnight (sorry fo the confusion, my mistake). Many Thanks all, and thanks to Suite101 and Dina for organising!

31 October 00

Spooky Halloween Greetings! After a little break in the flow of new areas, we are proud to present City of Altyra (levels 60..100) by Cyrien! A place where long time ago, during the crash of Elven Empire, a racial mixture of Vetrandus population fled into. Also, the latest area from Kaen is in: South Figaro for levels 10..25. Have a look at on both, they well worth going to!

Something on web pages updated recently, such as the "WHAT'S NEW -- LATEST CHANGES" (Of course), then Map of Grand City to match the recent modifications. Also All Areas and Original Areas sorted level-wise ascii "presentations" updated. I don't know if anyone finds the last two helpful in any way, but some overview can be obtained if you print them out in landscape orientation.. *shrug*

The Hyldonian capital, known as Grand City is now more or less done (except for a few mprogs and maybe couple of street names), see Information about the Kingdom Brimlan for details. After this we will gradually upgrade surrounding areas to support the Brimlan story, of which more is available now. The following is based on the intensive studies of wandering monk legend Wolverine, and clears out details on a period before the Kingdom. Have a look!

Score's HW and SW upgrade is complete and we reside on a 100M RAM Pentium with the latest Linux operating system. The operation was successful and patient survived, many thanks J-P in Jyvaskyla!

Greetings mudder! Latest code enhancements here. Some of you may already have heard about the common story for AAW and more theme based world. The work is ongoing, with several areas coming up to support it. Have a look at the preliminary version of the Area builders Guide! *promises to update it one day pretty soon ok*

AAW announced open immortal vacancies last month, and we got big bunch of applications, many thanks for all who applied. The promoting process goes on for some time because we want to take in one new imm at the time and do the "running-in" one by one. Please all welcome Hikaru, who just joined the immortal ranks (One more new imm to be announced, within couple of weeks)!

About the new areas I advertised here in the beginning of this month, they are still coming, but may be delayed a bit because checking and fine tuning has taken longer than I expected. So far one new area release Plains of the Chaotic Hoards, levels 100 to 200 by Callendor, a hard yet rewarding area for tough guys (grouping strongly suggested).
