Q: What is this place? Where am I?
A: This is where you can get great Alpha Centauri Scenarios. Playing
a scenario allows you to skip the first 200 or so years. You start in
a combat sitiuation. Plus you can compare your score to others who played the same scenario. Finally - usually the goals dont require victory - so you avoid having to play on and on.
Q: What is in the Zip files?
A: Each zip files contains an Alpha Centauri Scenario and a text explanation. Zip files are small (under 40K) so I dont show the sizes.
Q: What does Lal_2286 mean?
A: The Scenario is for Lal starting in year 2286. Click on the link to see what is in the accompanying text file and to download.
Q: What is in the text files?
A: Each text file contains a detailed description of the Scenario. Information includes who is attacking you, who has signed a pact to serve you,
and the goals of the contest.
Q: How are the ratings calculated?
A: It is based on your rankings in contests but you can boost your score by entering more contests.
So you can boost your score by playing a lot, but you need good scores to boost it substantially. Therefore I show how many contests each person has entered.
Q: What do the difficulty levels signify?
A: There are 5 difficulty levels:
Very Hard - modifications have been made to the faction files to make it more difficult
Hard - your foe has superior might
Medium - you should be able to win eventually
Easy - you are very strong
Very Easy - over run the opposition and try to get a great score
Builder - conquer is secondary to achieving some type of builder goal
Q: How do I enter a contest?
A: Simple - you play the game, achieve the goals of the contest, and send me a sav file showing you have done so. Send me your sav file even if you dont beat the high score. I will post all top scores. Make sure you include the Scenario name and your nick.
Q: I won in an early year - but my Alpha Centaurio score is low too. How would I do?
A: Early win years take precedence over a high Alpha Centauri score. The AC score is merely a tiebreaker. This way no one can drag out the game to get lots of points.
Q: How do I get my saved Scenarios posted on this website?
A: Simple - send me a save file and include a text explanation of what has happened and the goals of the contest.
