Playing Rules
In order to level the playing field for everyone - we need to have a few simple rules:
1)
No swapping to get a base (because population counts in AC score)
2)
No using the scenario editor
3)
No use of bugs - multiple SE changes, multiple drops, terraforming trick ( no use of automating units to take advantage of bugs )
4)
No tweaking after game just to increase your score. (We cant police this - but if everyone has to make changes after the scenario just to increase their score - it wont be fun - allowed but frowned upon)
These rules apply to every scenario - unless otherwise stated.
2 versions of lal_2286 have other rules.
Exodus_yang_2215 allows base swapping.
Finally for clarification:
You may renounce a pact during sunspots - except for 2 versons of lal_2286
I am convinced this was the was Firaxis intended the game to be.
Some examples to help clarify things (clear as mud). (thank you laurens (1) and VictorK (2-4) ).
1) Design Workshop Upgrade - If you use the design workshop upgrade -
you upgrade - but dont lose your turn. However if you upgrade a
single unit you do...so it seems like a bug - but maybe the upgrades
should not lose a turn - and you do get upgrades without losing a turn
when you get a new tech. to use it.
2) pact brothers convoy - You can convoy resources from a pact brother's territory.
This seems like poor design, but if you can do it - ...
3) unit upgrades are cheaper than building a better unit with Nano Factory -
seems that is the whole purpose of the SP - cheap upgrades - and was definitely intended
by Firaxis though you might abuse the power -
4) NOT using the build queue to save minerals - I didnt know that - will test it - seems
like using automation to improve your performance is cheating - like automating
your missiles so they have unlimited range - or the fuel trick with jets...but this
is the opposite - using the build queue costs you minerals. Anyways - NOT using something
HAS to be fair.
to NOT use build queue!
