way too happy for my own good

311 show, here I come!

Released: October 27, 2001

The Spiral Staircase is the oldest album that I still produce. I have a plethora of albums that came before it, but I no longer make copies of them. One of the most notable aspects of this album is its reliance on hip-hop (or rapped) styled deliveries for the lyrics. This album being highly collaborative features 7 different artists.  The album itself is good, but being that it is older and less advanced, its not one of my picks for listening.

1. The Spiral Staircase
2. Continuing where you left off
3. Tyranny - Lyrics
4. The Trip to Mandalaitar
5. The Black March (organix mix)
6. Superficial Segment
7. New Day
8. Interlude-scratching shit up
9. B B B
10. Sharp Flash
11. Opus ala Sagacity
12. Awash in Green
13. Tha Funk is on
14. Unto things again
15. Hoose

Notes:
The title track is what it is. Not too much to explain.

Continuing where you left off features a sample of the insane drum beat that is in the Beatles' classic Strawberry Fields Forever.  The lyrics are just to kind of wake the listener up a little.

Tyranny was recorded mostly by Dave Campbell and featured two different takes of the same song being spliced together to form the master track. One take was of me and Fetus (aka CC Psychotica) which was recorded by Dave and another take from me and Dennis Brown. Fetus plays the bass on his respective track; and Dennis plays drums on his respective track. There is also a sample that leads into the song from Star Trek the original series.

The Trip to Mandalaitar was recorded by Dave Campbell and features Dave himself playing both lead guitars and mandolin. I played the drums, bass, and 12-string acoustic. Davide

The Black March (organix mix) obviously is a second take of the original song that it came from. After making the first version of it, I realized it sounded too electronic, so I made a rockin' version with real drums and a surprise vocal at the end. The original version is available on "This is ... Kikwizard: Greatest hits".

Superficial Segment is a song basically about my relationship disintegrating with my ex-girlfriend. Nuf' said.

the luxurious Fetal CC New Day features Fetus rocking a multitude of different instruments and arrangements along with myself. This song was completed in two separate sessions some 3-4 months apart. Its outcome can clearly be seen as a triumph.

B B B was a song that I recruited Dennis Brown to drum due to its complexity and length. Simple guitar, lyrics, etc make this song a classic. This is one that I will often play at open mic nights.

Sharp Flash is a quickie that me and Mikey (AKA Propheto Jinx) whipped up in a few hours. Most notable for Mikey's long verse.

Opus ala Sagacity is a mix of a long and exaggerated jam that me and Lars did one day. It took several different mixes before arriving at this one for the album.

Awash in Green is a ballad that I had had for quite some time. Most notable for its many guitar sounds and effects.

Tha Funk is On features Ross on both bass and guitars. I played the drums and some guitar as well on the track.  No album would be complete without a track with me and Sir Sauce.

Unto things again is a song that I dedicated to my grandfather. It is to represent the journey through the afterlife.

Hoose is a throw-in that came straight off my need for just a little dance music.
