Background
Larkin grew up on Myndares, a small Ag planet in the Roxherian sector. Myndares was struck with a variant of the Chartreuse Plague when she was a small child. Fast action from local and sector medical corps kept casualties to a minimum, but she'd been infected with the disease. Early on, Larkin wanted to be a star pilot. She also realized the job went to folks with money and status and directed her efforts to becoming an astronavigator.
Tops in her class, Larkin tried enlisting into the StarForce and with her academic record, was virtually promised entry into the prestigious "Borealis Academy". She didn't get accepted. She never was told the reason, but suspects her exposure to Chartreuse Plague was the reason. It was a factor, but her psych profile hurt her chances too, as did the fact that a lot of strange things just seemed to happen around her.
Larkin finished her hitch 2 months ago and her bank account is seriously depleted. She's looking to sign on to a ship.
