What Are They Missing?

Well the main question is "What has kept the Rangers out of the World Series all these years?".  Well if you ask me it is PITCHING!  Their ERA is well above 4.00 and can't seem to win a game within 1 or 2 runs.  Last year, I think they set a record by losing the most games withing a run or two.  Don't get my wrong, John Wetteland is a great closer, but the other relievers just can't put the game away.  Rick Helling and Aaron Sele have been known to pitch many strong games, but are not very reliable, meaning they could pitch a shutout one day and then give up 7 runs the next start.

Hitting is of course their strong point, with players like Juan Gonzalez, Raphael Palmeiro, Pudge Rodriguez, Lee Stevens, and Rusty Greer.  And it seems these days that the only way to improve pitching is by either offering them $100 million contracts or trade your top hitter.  Who knows?  If the Rangers trade Juan Gonzalez they may be able to get Greg Maddux or Tom Glavine (the Braves can spare a few pitchers).

Well e-me your opinion at rarslan@mindspring.com .  I want to hear from you guys!
