- To the left of turn 1 and 2 there is a green section followed by a slippery brown bank. Usually, driving on a grassy section will just slow you down, but on these two turns, driving on the grass can cause your kart to be sucked onto the brown bank, and you'll fall into the water. Stay on the road at all costs on these two turns.
- Time can often be saved by cutting the corners very sharp (especially on some of the u-turns). On turn 3 (the one with the very steep hill to your right), drive up the bank and skid around the turn instead. You'll save nearly a second, but make sure you don't jet into the water after coming down the bank.
- It is important that, when going up the ramp, you hit the last dash zone while moving straight. If you are wobbling or are driving at slightly off-center, you wont hit the road after the jump flush, and you'll either bounce, costing you time, or you'll hit one of the hills to the side, stopping you completely.
- (From Mistern64@aol.com) Place bananas and fake item boxes in between the first and second dash zones on the jump to screw up the trajectories of your opponents karts. Also, save lightnings until your opponenets reach this area as well.
- The second and third last turn often cause a lot of problems, even for experienced kart players. On the third-last turn, do NOT powerslide. Just perform a series of short, rapid jumps, and you can avoid falling down into the green valley (OR, you can turn left before you get to the turn, and ride over the green hill to your left). On the second last turn ,the same goes. If you do a series of quick jumps instead of sliding, you'll avoid falling into the water.
- If you have a star or super mushroom, cut through the valley below the second and third last turns and head straight for the finish line.

- After turn 3, there is a moat followed by a brown bank to your left. If you turn your kart around so that you are facing the bank, and jump as you reach the edge of the grass, and if you hit the brown bank on the other side high enough up, Lakitu will pick you up and place you back down on the ramp, saving you half a lap. You need to be going quite fast in order to cross the moat, though, so a mushroom helps.
If you are a little off on the angle of your jump, the trick will probably not work, so make sure that your kart is exactly perpendicular to the bank as you jump.
- If you take a sharp left as you hit the last dash zone, it is possible to rejoin the track right before the finish line, decreasing your time by a few seconds. The two variants are:
- Hit the green bank alongside the water. If you hit it flush (you can tell by the sound made on contact), Lakitu will put you back on the road adjoining the bank, saving a few seconds.
But even better:
- If you are going fast enough and are using a light character, it is possible to jump all the way across the water, and land on the bank beside the road directly. Accomplishing this is very difficult, but it cuts out the middle man (Lakitu), and you will be much farther ahead. I have only seen this trick performed with Peach, but it should be possible to do it with Toad and Yoshi as well.
