Following the recent reclassification of Cannabis as a class C drug, the Home Secretary has issued commercial production licenses to UK based pharmaceutical companies. Purified THC (the active ingredient in cannabis) is already in limited use in hospitals due to it’s pain relieving qualities (it is almost as potent as morphine) and anti-inflammatory effects. However, the medical grade extract is altered to remove the psychoactive ingredients which would otherwise cause hallucigenic effects.
Production of this grade will be stepped up and all hospitals will be given an ample supply for treating sufferers of chronic arthritis and MS.
However, licences have been issued for the large scale production of unmodified extract of cannabis, known as cannabis sativa. This will be supplied in bulk to armed police divisions, formulated into aerosol grenades similar to those already in use for tear gas. The police have been instructed to use the new “dope bombs” instead of traditional crowd control methods at civil disobediences, riots and protest marches.
This is thought to be more effective at quelling an angry crowd, as cannabis users tend to be docile and non-aggressive. However, if “dope bombs” are deployed, the police will inform the crowd of the locations of the nearest fast food outlets.
