Here are a few more maps from the archives, including several for untimed levels, which often don't get the same amount of attention or tips as the timed ones, but can be terribly frustrating for just that reason!:
Level 036 (gif and zip), from fishofgold
Level 038 (gif and zip), from fishofgold (solution by Eric Reiter)
Level 039 (gif and zip), from fishofgold
Level 056 (gif and zip), from Ruben Spaans

Level 121 (gif and zip), from Ruben Spaans
Also of note, I discovered (and fixed) a coding error that affected all of the gifs for levels ending in "6." If you tried to open one up before it didn't work, please try again.

Ruben Spaans sends some creative solutions for:
Level 033 (gif and zip),
Level 034 (gif and zip),
Level 035 (gif and zip),
Level 037 (gif and zip), and
Level 040 (gif and zip).
I've supplied a solution for that pesky Level 136 (gif and zip).

5-2-98 (Part 2)
The missing High Scores update (through 5-1-98) that I thought I sent last night, but which stayed stubbornly on my hard drive.

New tips:
General Tips, from greendog.
Level 78, from Ruben Spaans.
Level 97, from Blair.
Level 114, from Alice.
Level 146, from Ruben Spaans.

Editorial changes:
Level 37, removes a reference to a map that would not be available to readers. The reference isn't needed to understand the tip. Thanks to Ruben Spanns for catching this one.
Level 68, clarification. Thanks to the eagle-eyed Kevin Gordon for catching a late night error.

5-2-98 (Part 1)
The High Scores page has been updated, and here are a bunch of new tips!
General Tips, from Ruben Spaans.
Level 8, from Jan.
Level 11, from Ruben Spaans.
Level 22, from Ruben Spaans.
Level 29, from Ruben Spaans.
Level 36, from Ruben Spaans.
Level 45, from Ruben Spaans.
Level 49, from Ruben Spaans.
Level 58, from Ruben Spaans.
Level 85, from Ruben Spaans.
Level 86, from Ruben Spaans.
Level 123, from Ruben Spaans.
Level 127, from Ruben Spaans.
Level 140, from Ruben Spaans.
Level 141, from Scott Kippenbrock.
Ruben also discovered that I had the wrong title on Level 95, so that's been fixed. It now reads FOUR SQUARE, as it should. Thanks, Ruben!
Last but not least, I noticed that in levels with many tips, sometimes it's hard to remember what level you are looking at after you scroll down the page and can't see the title anymore, so I've begun to add the Level to the header of the individual tips. Levels 1 through 25 have been fixed, as well as any levels where I was adding new tips.

I'm am very happy to be able to add Ruben Spaan's great new program, the MapMaker to the site as a download. This also required changes on Chip's Page and in the other pages contained in "Details, Details" to add links to it, plus an expanded definition of the brown block symbols on the Reading the Maps page.

4-24-98
ACK!!!!!! Why didn't somebody tell me that my latest iteration of the tip list didn't place the tips in the bottom window at all, but just popped them into that tiny window that had the tip list itself in it? Not only that, but half of my latest links didn't break out of my own frames! That's what I get for late night web site updating, I guess. Sorry about that. It's fixed now!

4-18-98
This update is mainly housekeeping items.
Links. I've gone through the Other Fan(atic)s link page and deleted a few dead links, as well as added some critical ones. We've got Richard Field's new site linked correctly now, and....TA DA!....a link to the msn bbs! There are other new sites as well, including a link to the Chip's Challenge editor page. Changes in the way Microsoft allows people to access their Knowledge base meant that the links directly to Level bug articles won't work for some people, so I've amended that link with new instructions. That change also required minor rewording to the Not All the Bugs Are Yellow page. Finally, I've added a few more seller sites to the Getting the Game page.

Tip List. I've revamped the tip list, so that you can see ten levels at a time, instead of just three or four. Since we now have tips for all 149 levels, there seemed to be less need for the "Tip and Map Summary" page, and I've deleted the link for it from Chip's Page and from the bottom of some of the related "tips" pages. You can still have the feature of seeing the level list in the larger window, though, by clicking the "flip the tips" link on the regular Tips and Maps page. And speaking of maps, I've added file sizes to the download page for the base map zip files.

4-15-98
There is a new High Scores update, this time through 3-31-98.

Thanks to FuBaSh, we've got yet another way to "Ignore Passwords." Just press CONTROL+F5. This additional method has been included on the What Help Never Told You page.

Level 88 deserves a paragraph of its own. Not only is there a new tip from Ruben Spaans, but he and Erik Arfeuille have both helped to solve the mystery of why some people were having problems. You can read all about it in the Not All the Bugs Are Yellow section. Finally, I've added a solution map for the "corrupt" chips.dat file to the maps. This solution should also work for the Atari and Commodore versions of Chip's Challenge.

And, last but not least, here are the new tips for this update:
Level 024 from Ruben Spaans (two tips, one with a map!); Level 037 from Ruben Spaans (includes a small map!); Level 041 from Maybelle; Level 053 from Joshua Bone; Level 068 from fishofgold; and Level 097 from Blair;

4-12-98
The high scores table is now caught up through 2-28-98. We also have a few new tips:
Level 149 from "Chip fan";
Level 37 from Scott Feeney;
Level 130 also from Scott Feeney.
Thanks everybody!

4-10-98

Level 40 new tip from Clint Givens
Level 76 new tip from Kevin Gordon
Level 79 new tip from Kevin Gordon
Level 97 new tip from Kevin Gordon
Level 98 new tip from Kevin Gordon
Level 123 new tip from SC1281
Level 128 new tip and map (and updated zip of course) from Ruben Spaans
Level 141 new tip from Brad McCleary
Level 146 new tip from Ruben Spaans

4-9-98
Ooops! This update corrects a few typos that slipped through in the last update. Chrisrina Carrera, the phantom of the high score page,is no more. She's been replaced by her proper title, CHRISTINA! (Thanks to Kevin Gordon and Ruben Spaans for spotting this little glitch that's probably been wrong since the beginning. And thanks to Ruben for pointing out that Michael Beck's reported high time on level 110 couldn't possibly be 259. It's now been corrected to 270, which is what he told me in his email. Ruben also discovered the place where I had hidden Kevin Gordon's latest tip for level 96. It was mislabeled and lurking amongst the tips for level 97, but it's "home" now. Thanks again, gentlemen!

4-8-97
At last, at last! A high score update! I'm updating the high scores in the order people emailed them to me. The new high score table is current through 11-30-97. Thanks to everybody who not only played the game, but who wrote in to confirm the high scores of other people. It's enabled me to move several high scores to the "confirmed" column.

The other portion of this update is all tips:
Thanks to Kevin Emmett, there's a new quick tip for Level 18
And that inveterate Chipster Kevin Gordon is responsible for new tips on the following levels: Level 35, Level 43, Level 55, Level 66, Level 96, Level 102, and Level 104.

4-7-98
Brand new! A second saver that will work for any level, from Kevin Gordon
Level 35: Kevin Gordon sends a new tip and reports a new high score at the same time.
Level 39: T-Bone sends a tip and reminds us that sometimes there's nothing wrong with the simple solutions!
Level 50: Kevin Gordon announces a new high score of 317, and sends a new tip and solution map to replace the previous one that shows a route for 316 seconds. There's a new zip for download as well.
Level 68: Richard Prentice and I supply a pair of new tips.
Level 85: Kevin Gordon announces yet another high score and provides a great tip to back it up!.
Level 130: a new (and outstanding) tip from (you guessed it!) Kevin Gordon.

Again, thanks, Kevin, for all the great tips!

4-6-98
I made a tiny little change to the Chip's Page. I've thought for a long time that the first word on the page should be a little more prominent. Now it is. Here's what else is new:

Level 26: new (old) tip from me dated 5-27-97 and lost in the archives. Thanks to Kathy LaPier, our Keeper of the Memories, for forwarding some of the missing items.
Level 31: new solution map gif and zip from me
Level 32: new solution map gif and zip from me
Level 64: new solution map gif and zip from Kevin Gordon
Level 94: new solution map gif and zip from Kevin Gordon
Level 129: the tip page was reformated (no new content), since some of the tips were out of chronological order.
Level 133: new tip from Kevin Gordon
Level 139: new tip and new solution map gif and zip from Kevin Gordon

Thanks for all the cool stuff, Kevin!

4-3-98
There's a mega update this week, and we're not done yet! The major new thing is that all 149 base maps are now on the site, and zipped into neat packets of 25 each for your downloading convenience. I've also added a page on how to read the maps. Many thanks to Ruben Spaans, who created, and then shared a super map making program that turned what could have been hundreds of hours of work into just a few. Thanks, Ruben!

Since all of the base maps are now available, and to make room for more solution maps, I've removed the base map gif files, and taken the base maps out of the small zip files. This will make downloading the solution zips even quicker, since they will be smaller. This change has meant changes to the Tips and Maps list, which should load more quickly as well. And I've really revamped the Summary of Available Levels which should also load a bit more quickly now.

Thanks to Kathy LaPier for sending more links on where you can buy the Chip's Challenge game on-line. If you're still looking, check them out on the page about getting the game.

Finally, I've added additional navigation to the bottom of each page that's been revised. Hope you enjoy the changes!
